THE DAILY STUMPED🔮

Xander Schauffele has finally won the big one! How many runner-up finishes has he had?

  • A. 2

  • B. 4

  • C. 8

  • D. 11

  • E. 14

Answer at the bottom of The Stump!

ON THIS DAY 🗓

On this day in 1945…

Keith Miller, widely known as Australia’s greatest all-around Cricket player, scored 105 runs (or a Century) in the 1st Victory Test at Lord’s! Maybe together we all start learning a little bit more about cricket. Seems fun!

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY

Wild Day of Game 7’s!

What a day in sports yesterday! We had the conclusion of the PGA Championship, Manchester City win its record 4th straight Premier League title, and Nelly Korda win her 6th event in 7 starts on the LPGA, but we also had two Game 7’s in the NBA! Wild Sunday in sports!

The first of the two featured the Indiana Pacers heading into Madison Square Garden to face off against the New York Knicks. Talk about Knicks fans going through all the emotions. OG Anunoby started the game going 2/2 after battling an injury and the Garden was ROCKING! Despite this, you could tell he wasn’t 100% and left very early into the game.

The Pacers came out firing after that and shot a ridiculous 80% in the first quarter! They barely slowed down after that finishing with an NBA Playoff record 67.1% FG percentage for the game. That was the story of the game. They went up big early, the Knicks did what they have done all year and showed some serious fight in the third quarter, but eventually injuries caught up with them.

Jalen Brunson had to leave the game with a fractured wrist, Josh Hart was battling an ankle all game, and the Pacers came out with the win. Overall a lot of respect to the Knicks for making it this far, they showed a lot of heart. The Pacers now go on face the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

On the other side, we had the Timberwolves head into Ball Arena to face off against the Nuggets in what has been a series of blowouts! Denver was able to keep Anthony Edwards in check for the first half bascially doubling him every time he touched the ball. Jamal Murray had 24 points in the first half to help Denver take a 15-point lead into halftime.

It looked to be all Denver but the Timberwolves showed why this is their year. They became a team possessed, the same team we saw in Games 1 and 2 of this series, and hounded the Nuggets defensively.

In what was one of the biggest comebacks in Game 7 history, the Timberwolves came back from a 20-point deficit to take down the Nuggets. Anthony Edwards, KAT, Rudy, and stump hero Naz Reid all showed up big in crunch time and got the win.

Really tough loss for the Nuggets but this seems to be the Timberwolves’ year! They now move on to face the Dallas Mavericks.

We are in for two great Conference Finals matchups!

🎙SONG OF THE DAY

Hungry Heart - Bruce Springsteen

Nothing like a little Bruce to get the week started, or as they call him…’The Boss’. What a nickname by the way. Great song from a great album from a great era!

🎵 “Everybody’s got a hungry heart” 🎵

Glue Guy of the Day

The Lanyard

A couple things about the lanyard here. First off anybody who is carrying one seems to have their life together. It’s always dangling out of a pocket or hanging around a collar. That dude is keeping your keys or ID safe and sound. Also, what a word. Lanyard. Say it 10 times and it might not even sound like a word anymore!

DAILY STUMPED ANSWER

E. 14! Man yes that means he’s had trouble closing but it also means he’s one hell of a golfer! Congrats Xander on winning your first Major! What a place to do it, the PGA Championship at Valhalla!
