ON THIS DAY🗓️

(This is just a stock image of a train)

On this day in 1906, a baseball game was held outside of Pittsburgh, PA in the United States.

Outfielder, BF Hicks, was tracking down a fly ball hit deep, as Hicks kept backtracking, he walked onto the train tracks. He was hit by the train and was dead on impact.

When his body was found, he was still holding the baseball. Commitment.

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️

The Open: CHAOS

If you haven’t been following along because of the time change, you’ve missed a lot, here’s a quick synopsis of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Live from the roaring hills of Scotland the 152nd Open has been absolute chaos! Early in the morning in the United States, many have been sleeping through some of this crazy action. I can’t blame you, 3 in the morning is early for all of us. This morning, the leaders will all tee off around 9:00 AM ET.

I say leaders because the top of the leaderboard is CROWDED! Billy “the kid” Horchel (that’s not really his nickname but it just works) will tee off with Thriston Lawrence from South Africa in the final grouping at 9:25 AM ET. Horschel is the leader after a gritty and rainy day yesterday. He stands alone at -4.

There also happens to be a not one, not two, not three, but a SIX-WAY tie for second at -3. This includes Americans Sam Burns, Russel Henley, Xander Schauffele, as well as English veteran Justin Rose and his young buck statesman Daniel Brown (the day one leader).

Behind these guys are some MASSIVE names… Scottie Scheffler sits at -2, Shane Lowry at -1, and Adam Scott and Justin Thomas are hovering at a flat even! Lowry was the leader going into yesterday but in some really horrible weather conditions posted an ugly +6.

Justin Thomas and Adam Scott have had an INTERESTING route to E, both posting scores above 77 in day two (that’s really bad and not a score that would make you into contention). Sam Burns and Thriston Lawrence both shot 6-under yesterday to get themselves into contention to win a major championship.

To make things even more crazy, Si Woo Kim made a hole in one on the 17th hole today, which you would think happens from time to time. Not at the Open. For the first time in 152 years, there was a hole in one. How bout that? What’s in the water in Scotland this weekend???

If you’re reading this and it’s past 9:00 AM ET, you’re gonna wanna finish the stump, go turn on your TV, and watch the MADNESS UNFOLD!

Glue Guy of the Day

Defined: Glue Guy (Noun, Verb, Adj., etc.) - a person, thing, idea, or thought that holds together the larger group. Not the star, not the main character, but a hard hat and lunch pale type who knows its role. The GLUE of the group.

Jrue Holiday

Team USA

This guy is SUCH a difference-maker for the United States basketball squad at the Olympics. Such a great player and ultimate championship GLUE GUY!

A. Argentina. Following this loss, the US has won every Gold Medal since. The 2008 team, known more commonly as the Redeem Team, went on to avenge their 2004 loss.
