The Chiefs are the Chiefs! They are now the quietest 8-0 I think I’ve ever seen! Check out our Stump Story today because it’s honestly something that has been on my mind for a while! A real “What would you do?” situation. In other news, College Basketball is now in full swing, there’s some Dak injury news, and today in our Trivia we are taking ALL-TIME WINS! Let’s be special today!
Today’s Trivia🧠
We're talking all-time wins today! Which coach is #1 in all-time wins, at 328?
(answer at the bottom of the Stump!)
On This Day…

🏈 Let’s talk Madden! On this day in 1978, NFL head coach John Madden won his 100th career game as a head coach! He would end with 103 career wins. Although this ranks him 43rd all-time in head coaching wins…
His win percentage of .759 destroys all 42 coaches in front of him! The guy won! Wouldn’t feel right calling the game we all know and love anything different than ‘Madden’!
Today’s Stump Story…
🏈 Putting our Head Coach Hats on for a Minute…

Last night the Bucs had the ball with 1 minute left in regulation against the Chiefs, they were down 7 with no timeouts. The Chiefs had all 3. This brings up a great chance for us all to put our Head Coach hats on! And we want to hear what you would do!
Am I the only one who thinks Chiefs games are easy to predict now? When you’re playing these guys, if you make a big mistake, you lose. And then if you don’t go above and beyond on both sides of the ball, you also lose. So do you have to be perfect? Not necessarily, but you do have to be special. You have to do something special during the course of the game.
Last night, the situation was this. There were 30 seconds left, the Bucs had just called their last timeout, and they were down seven on the one-yard line. The key here for me is that the Chiefs had all three timeouts. We know what the Chiefs can do with basically no time on the clock, so it’s tricky.
Call it living rent-free in my head, but as a Bills fan, I find myself thinking about this sometimes. If and when it comes down to it again, when the game is on the line and we’re down one score to KC with just a minute on the clock, what do we do? How do we handle it? How do we be special?
A couple different ways you can go about this. You can run your best play with 30 seconds to go, hopefully score there, and then give the Chiefs the ball back with 27 seconds to go.
If you score here you can either kick the PAT, or go for 2 and take the lead, but if you don’t get that, game over.
A lot of people today will be wondering why the Bucs didn’t go for 2, that would have been ‘being special’.
Here’s where my head is at, call me crazy! I can picture it in my head. It’s a playoff matchup against the Chiefs, same exact situation, you bleed as much clock as possible. I don’t care if you take a knee, run for zero, or do whatever you have to do, JUST BURN CLOCK! If I’m head coach, there is no chance in hell I am giving the ball back to them with any time on the clock! In the playoffs, you kick the PAT and then go to OT where you know you’ll get the ball. Even crazier people than me would just go for 2 right then and there. Win the game on that play! I mean, I freakin love it! And I can’t wait to see it!
When was the last time you saw a team down 7 take a knee with under a minute to go, but I don’t hate it at all. Football people will say, ‘No. You score points, and then you play defense. And you live with the results.’
NO WAY! You can’t do that, right? It’s been 100 last-second victories for these guys these last couple of years, and if you want to beat them, you have to do something a little out there, or else you will lose.
There are honestly so many different ways to go about it. Score as quickly as possible and then play D. Score and then go for 2. Bleed clock and then take it to OT. Something else I’m sure I’m not even thinking of. It’s fascinating to think about.
Anyway, I’m gonna take the Head Coach cap off now and go make the big decisions of my life which are whether my eggs are going to be scrambled or fried today.
Would love to hear what you all think. Use this form and tell us what you would do to beat the Chiefs in that situation. We’ll shout out some of our favorite ones so throw your name in there as well!
Yesterday, In a Nutshell

🏈 MNF: The Chiefs are the Chiefs! For some reason, all the media can talk about are the Lions and the Ravens, yet the reigning back-to-back champs are 8-0! Last night they beat the Bucs in OT, 30-24! It was a Kareem Hunt TD in OT that got them the win, Baker didn’t get the ball. It was D Hop who had 86 yards and 2 TDs in regulation, and Travis Kelce who had FOURTEEN receptions for 100 yards. The Buccs fought hard, but the Chiefs are the Chiefs.
🏀 The San Antonio Spurs announced yesterday that their head coach Gregg Popovich suffered a health issue before Saturday’s game and will be away from the team for an indefinite period of time. The team did not release any further information, but stated he had an undisclosed illness. Popovich, 75, is the NBA’s all-time leader in wins by a coach. The Spurs named Mitch Johnson their interim coach.
🏈 Trouble in Texas: Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is expected to miss several weeks with a right hamstring injury. The Cowboys are considering placing Prescott on the IR, which will force him to miss at least four weeks. He’ll seek a second opinion in the coming days, more to come. The Cowboys got lucky with their other offensive star, Ceedee Lamb, who left last game with an injury as well. Lamb is not expected to miss any significant time.
🏀 A game-worn Michael Jordan jersey from the Chicago Bulls’ 1996-97 season sold yesterday for $4.68 million. The jersey was reportedly worn in at least 17 games during the season, including a game against a rookie-sensation named Allen Iverson. This is the fourth-most expensive NBA jersey ever sold. This was one of five Jordan items sold in the auction, which included two other items that sold for over one million dollars.
⚾ The New York Yankees and their star pitcher, Gerrit Cole, reached a four-year, $144 million contract. This is the same contract that he opted out of on Saturday. Cole, a six-time All-Star, has been the star pitcher that the Yankees hoped that he would be, despite an injury-riddled 2024, Cole is still an elite pitcher. The Yankees are looking to get the gang back together next year to try and get back to the World Series.
