Good Morning, Stumpers!

QUICK! If you hear the quote, ā€œI didn’t hear no bellā€, what movie franchise do you think of? Think about it, the answer is in our Quote of the Day at the bottom! If you’re not familiar, set aside 20 hours and you’re welcome in advance! Happy Wednesday everybody. Let’s talk Home Runs, QB Debut’s and a little Waiver Wire today as well! Let’s roll!

The Rundown

āš¾ļø A ton of Home Run news to cover!

šŸˆ JJ McCarthy had a ROLLERCOASTER debut!

šŸ¤” Waiver Wire Wednesday!

🄊 ā€œI didn’t hear no bellā€œ Anybody know this quote?

On This Day

šŸˆ Before Coach Prime, it was PRIMETIME!

Say what you want about Deion Sanders the coach…but when he was in his prime, he was one of the best athletes in recent memory!

On this day in 1989, only five days after hitting a Home Run for the New York Yankees in a 12-2 win over the Mariners, it was football Sunday and he returned a punt 68 yards for a Touchdown! Absolutely nuts! Can you imagine Justin Jefferson going yard in the MLB!

Today’s Trivia

As we'll discuss in a second, Aaron Judge is not fifth on the Yankees all-time HR list. Yesterday he passed Yogi Berra with his 359th HR. Which great will he be tracking down next?

(All 4 of these are the Yankees ahead of him on the all-time list)

Glue Guy of the Day

āš¾ļø Triple Dip in Home Run News

A few different things to discuss today in the world of Home Runs. We’re going to bounce around a little bit here!

Aaron Judge Hits Number 44 of the year! We’re going to keep this blip just about Aaron Judge. We’re not going to talk about the Yankees losing 12-2 to the Detroit Tigers in a very important AL showdown. We’re not going to talk about how ANOTHER bullpen collapse in the seventh inning is what lost the boys the game. We’re not going to talk about how two pitchers came in and faced nine batters, and did not get a single out in the inning, and allowed nine runs. Only negative writers would talk about that, so we’re going to stay away from that and just hope those boys can figure it out. Anyways Aaron Judge hit his 359th career HR and moved into 5th all-time on the Yankees all-time HR list, passing Yogi Berra.

Schwarber Reaches 50! Remember Kyle Schwarber’s monster 4-Home Run game just a few weeks ago? It’s funny how it all works out, because after that historic performance, he went on a HR drought rights when he was on the cusp of his first ever 50-HR season! The drought lasted 10 games and 49 plate appearances! Sometimes it just takes a divisional rivalry to get the juices going again, because it was last night when he hit a 3-run BOMB against the Mets that helped him reach the 50 mark for the first time in his career! Have a year Kyle Schwarber!

Juan Soto Becomes 5th Player in Mets History to reach 30-30! After his 30th stolen base yesterday, Juan Soto joined an elite class of Mets players that have hit 30 Home Runs and stolen 30 bases in a single season. The Mets find themselves holding onto the 6th and final playoff spot in the NL, but this is familiar territory. Last year it was right around now that they turned it up into another gear and made a wild run to the NLCS! One extra little thing. Soto getting to 30-30 yesterday truly shows how ridiculous it was that Shohei Ohtani reached 50-50 last year! Lunacy!

The BIG Moments

šŸˆ JJ McCarthy Comes Out Firing in Debut

The Stump Short Story: What a rollercoaster of a debut for Vikings 2nd year QB JJ McCarthy on Monday Night Football! If somebody who only watched the first three quarters talked with somebody who only watched the fourth quarter on the Vikings QB play, it would be a hilarious conversation.

ā€œDude, that guy may be the worst QB on the planetā€

ā€œUmm what are you talking about he had one of the most historic record breaking quarters in a debut ever!ā€

That’s how it would go. The Vikings looked awful for three quarters, but on the sideline you could tell on Kevin O’Connell’s face that he never wavered. Whatever he said to his young QB in that time, I would have loved to be a fly on that wall, because JJ McCarthy accounted for 3 TDs in the fourth quarter alone! The Vikings looked dialed in all phases of the game, and the Bears seemed lost. If was a tale of two halves, and lucky for the Vikings, it ended with them hot at the right time! The Bears will now face the Lions in a Ben Johnson return game, and the Vikings will host the Falcons! Vikings come from behind to beat the Bears, 27-24

šŸ¤” Waiver Wire Wednesday

The Stump Short Story: I know we have a lot of fantasy players here, so here’s a quick list of some potential waiver wire targets for you to pickup today in your league!

QB - Daniel Jones (IND) - Ended Week 1 as the QB3 in the league and rides momentum into a week 2 matchup against teh Broncos

WR - Keenan Allen (LAC) - If this guy is on your waiver wire, scoop him up IMMEDIATELY! Don’t mind the fact this might be his 34th year in the league! He is still a baller!

TE - Harold Fannin Jr. (CLE) - There was some training camp Fannin hype, but I wasn’t buying it. Well, I’m all over the stock now. Fannin was the clear number one ttarget for Joe Flacco, and guys tend to throw to guys they trust. If Flacco trusts Fannin, I trust Fannin!

WR - Juju Smith-Schuster (KC) - The WR room is thin in KC right now…razor thin! Juju is worth the flyer if you need some help in your personal WR room!
