It seemed like the Yankees took out all of their frustration in the span of 9 innings last night! Fun watch for all of our Yankees fans, I’m sure! Game 5 is tonight! Yesterday we had FIU Wide Receiver Eric Rivers go for 295 YARDS! Not a typo! He really went for 295 yards off of 11 catches! On top of that…he’s a former WALK-ON! Read all about it in our Stump Story below! Let’s destroy the day today.
Today’s Trivia🧠
(answer at the bottom of the Stump!)
On This Day…

🥊 Sticking with Muhammed Ali because ON THIS DAY in 1974 Ali took on George Foreman in the Rumble in the Jungle.
The fight took place in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ali was able to defeat Foreman by KO in the 8th round.

🏈 Eric Rivers: FIU Record SHATTERED

A BIG day from the WR from FIU meant some records were shattered…
To get over 100 yards receiving in a game is a big deal, that means you had a heck of a game. Well when it comes to Eric Rivers, the redshirt junior WR at FIU, he had a heck of a game x100000.
Rivers went off for an FIU record 295 yards receiving on 11 catches, 3 of which went for a touchdown. That’s insanity! That trails only Arizona's Tetaiora McMillan who had 304 yards against New Mexico for most yard totals in major college football this year.
What’s even cooler about all this? Rivers was a WALK-ON at the University of Memphis for two years before transferring to FIU. Not only was he a walk-on, but Memphis had him playing cornerback, not wide receiver.
Knowing his playing time would be limited he left Memphis and walked onto the FIU roster. He balled out in the spring season and then earned a scholarship, before even stepping onto the field for FIU in a real game. Part of why Rivers moved to Miami and FIU was to spend more time with his son, who lives with his ex-girlfriend in the area. After last night, I’m sure Eric is a happy dad.
Rivers was a key contributor to the FIU WR room last year, but he only totaled 370 yards and three touchdowns. Rivers dang near matched that last night. Heading into last night’s game Rivers had already totaled 32 catches, 581 yards, and 5 touchdowns on the season. He added some serious numbers to those totals last night.
Eric Rivers: remember the name!
Yesterday, In a Nutshell

🏈 Indy has been in a really weird place these last couple of days with their starting QB Anthony Richardson. The team decided yesterday to bench Richardson and move to Joe Flacco for the time being. The decision came two days after Richardson asked to come out of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans because he “was tired”. The Colts have maintained that this benching is not related to Richardson’s play off on Sunday…
⚾ World Series Game Four: The YANKEES HAVE LIFE! It is still an unbelievably tall task that is in front of them, but they showed some heart yesterday in an 11-4 THRASHING of the LA Dodgers! It wasn’t their MVPs but rather the bottom of the lineup that carried them to victory! Anthony Volpe hit a go-ahead GRAND SLAM in the third inning to really get the party started in the Bronx!
⚽ Manchester United will play their first game without their boss Erik Ten Hag today. Ten Hag was fired following the squad’s 2-1 loss at West Ham. A handful of big-time Premier League club bosses came out in support of Ten Hag, citing the unrealistic expectations of a job like Man United. The search for their new boss is on, as rumors have swirled around Portuguese club Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim.
🏀 In the NBA last night, the Mavericks and T’Wolves showed off what both teams are capable of this year. The T’Wolves stormed out to a lead in the first quarter behind Anthony Edwards’ 24-point first quarter. Ant eventually cooled off a little, and the Mavs clawed back. Kyrie Irving led the Mavs with 35 points as the Mavs won 120-114 in Minnesota.

Trivia Answer:
A. 21! The most recent one came in 2012, when the Giants swept the Tigers! The Yankees themselves count for 8 of the 21 World Series sweeps! Pretty impressive!
