Oh boy, the College Football season is OFFICIALLY back! We’re talking close ball games, down to the wire action, and big-time scoring. Don’t let us forget about the US Open, the PGA Tour Championship, and even some MLB. It’s really a great time to be a sports fan.

People Aren’t Talking Enough About…

Scared Straight in College Ball

Okay, maybe everyone is talking about college football this morning. Sue us, we’re excited too. Two big time programs were given a run for their money last night and we’re fired up about it. North Dakota State and Western Carolina gave their opponents everything they could handle.

North Dakota State is a perennial FCS powerhouse to the point where an FCS National Championship is par for the course. They went into Colorado and looked like they belonged with the big dogs. Deion’s boys answered the bell in the end, but man was it shaky for awhile. The Bison from ND were gritty, they were powerful, and they were unrelenting.

It came down to what it always does in games like these: athletes. Specifically, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. They won CU the ball game, without them, it might’ve been the Bison who stampeded home with a win (ha, bison pun).

In Raleigh it was the Catamounts of Western Carolina who were battling it out with NC State. The boys of directional Carolina were playing inspired football for the first three quarters until NC State got their feet under them. The Catamounts were making every big play, every big stop, and every make or break moment.

Eventually, NC State took advantage of their obvious athletic superiority and they started to make plays down the field. It was only a matter of time.

We were close to our first MASSIVE upsets of the NCAA Football season, looks like we’ll have to wait another day to find out shinning star of underdogs.

The Comets won the first four championships between 1997-2000. Cynthia Cooper was named the finals MVP all four years. WNBA Legends🐐

🤑Breaking the Bank

Yesterday, we had two BIG deals drop between the NFL and NBA. Nothing like spending a little guap on a Thursday afternoon…

In the NBA, the chef himself cashed in. Steph Curry reached a 1-year, $62.6 million extension. The contract keeps Curry under contract with Golden State through the 2026-27 season. With this contract, Curry becomes the fourth NBA player to surpass $500 million in career earnings, joint with LBJ, KD, and PG13.

In the NFL, the biggest saga of the offseason finally came to an end. Brandon Aiyuk is staying in San Fran. After it looked like he was going to be a Steeler, then a Patriot, then a Brown, he’s officially a Niner for four more years (At least, contract). He signed a 4-year, $120 million extension. It seems like like hold-out didn’t change anything, as the 49ers didn’t budge, and eventually Aiyuk just signed. Shoutout to the Niners front office holding strong!

🏈 The Final QB Domino Falls! Brissett to Start in New England!

Yesterday Jerod Mayo stood in front of his team and had to announce whether they would be starting the veteran Jacoby Brissett, or if they would roll out with their third overall pick Drake Maye. The decision was Jacoby Brissett.

If was a roller-coaster of a camp in terms of who it looked like could be the Week 1 starter. Just earlier this week Mayo said that Maye outplayed Brissett. This was just 24 hours after he declared that Maye was the second-best QB on the roster. The roller coaster has come back to bay and we now have a Week 1 starter.

It’s no secret that Drake Maye will eventually be the guy on this team. But we’ve seen many instances where a first-round pick sits for a little bit and then gets his shot. Whether or not that’s in a few weeks or a whole season only time will tell.

Maybe let him chill on the sidelines until we beef up that O Line a little bit 🤷

⛳️Padding the Lead

A BIG day from Scottie Scheffler launched him into a SEVEN-stroke lead after day one, with Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele both sitting at -5. Not only did Scottie have a good day, he had the BEST day.

Scottie shot a 6-under 65, while a host of others were only able to settle for 5-under. Interestingly enough, only ONE player in the whole field who shot above par on day one, and that would be Billy Horschel with a +2.

It’s really going to turn into a race for second if Scottie can hold strong and keep shooting under par. He’s been an absolute stud this year and a win at the PGA Tour Championship would just be a cherry on top.

The first group tees off at 11:16 AM ET, while the final groups will head out onto the course at 2:00 PM ET. So, don’t stress about getting up too early.

What goes on in this state? Not sure. But it just feels right. Just a lot of really good glue vibes come from that state.

Trivia Answer:

C. OJ Simpson! If you laughed off the option, you probably feel dumb now. OJ ran for 2,003 yards in 1973, becoming the first to ever do it in the NFL. He did this in just 14 games and went on to be named the MVP of the NFL that year. What could’ve been if he wasn’t a psycho…
