Yeah there’s was some sports on yesterday, but we also lost an absolute legend, James Earl Jones. Before you take in the Stump and all of it’s glory, take a minute and watch this video of Jones from Field of Dreams. One of the movies that made me fall in love with sports, and his acting in it made me fall in love with the BEAUTY of sports, there’s just so much more to it than winning and losing.

In 1978, F1 driver Mario Andretti finished 6th in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. This earned him one single point in the standings that year. That point was enough to win him his 1st F1 World Drivers Championship.

🏈 The Jordan Mason Show

In the highly anticipated return of Aaron Rodgers, it was a former undrafted free agent who stole the show in his first career start. San Francisco 49er Jordan Mason totaled 147 rushing yards and a TD in the absence of Christian McCaffrey.

If I hadn’t watched football in 10 years and then turned this game on I would’ve said “This Mason guy has to be a top-10 RB in the league!” Jokes on me who hadn’t watched in 10 years because that was his first start EVER!

The 49ers just solidified another weapon to their arsenal! His postgame interview was awesome too! Here it is: POSTGAME INTERVIEW

❌ Just Found An ELITE Twitter (or X whatever) Account! SCORIGAMI!

If you’re not familiar with the term Scorigami allow me to explain. It simply means that the final score of a game is one that has never happened before.

It’s a term I’ve heard here and there but never fully thought too much of. Well there’s a whole Twitter account dedicated to it and we just had one last night! The final score of 32-19 is one that has NEVER happened in NFL history! How nuts is that!

If you check out their feed they give the final score of every game and note how many times that score has happened in NFL history. Dedication to the Scorigami craft! Earned a follow out of me!

🏀 Mavs Bring Back Markieff Morris

As long as there is NBA basketball, there will be a Morris brother roaming around somewhere. Veteran free agent Markeiff Morris reached an agreement with the Mavericks to return to Dallas. When it comes to contenders in this era of the NBA, you need a couple of older guys on the roster.

With the Celtics, it was Al Horford. With the Nuggets it was Deandre Jordan and Ish Smith. Teams that are starting to have younger and younger rosters need older vets to lean on and learn from. Luckily there is already A LOT of experience on this Mavs team with both Kyrie and Klay with championship experience.

The Mavs are just a few months removed from their first NBA Finals with Luka, they are reloaded, and more importantly, they now have a Morris brother! Let’s see what happens.

⚾️Path to the MLB: Kumar Rocker

The Texas Rangers made the call to bring up one of their top prospects, Kumar Rocker, to make his MLB debut this Wednesday. The 24-year-old was the 3rd overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft after being one of the most dominant starting pitchers in all of college baseball for the Vandy boys of Nashville.

Rocker was also the 10th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, but some FALSE leaked information lead to the Mets deciding to not sign him. So the dude went back to college, dominated again, and went even higher the next year. Less than a year after the draft, he blows out his elbow. BRUTAL!

A year and one Tommy John surgery rehab later, Rocker is ready to roll. I love this story because Kumar, despite being a high pick, despite being a stud in college, had to prove himself over and over again

🎾Draper “going to look into” his vomiting issues

Jack Draper made an unreal run to the semifinals of the US Open this year, but many were taken aback by his problems holding down his lunch on the court. Draper threw up three times during the match.

On the surface level, this is kind of funny, but on a deeper level, it’s pretty concerning for Draper. He noted he is in elite shape and pushes his body to the max, so he agrees that it must be something mental. Trust me Jack, if I were in your shoes, I’d be getting sick too.

He wants to “take a deep dive” into what may be causing these reactions. I love this for Jack, you’re a hell of a tennis player, I want to see him playing his most confident game.

The BOYS! Check out this video of Shota Imanaga, Shohei Ohtani, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto linking up prior to last night’s Cubs-Dodgers showdown.

The three Japanese American Baseball stars grew up playing against and/or with each other, as well as represent the country together at the World Baseball Classic. So really, it’s just a meeting of the minds. Just the boys getting the band back together. Simple vibe check.

The best part of this video may be the fact that they greet each other by BOWING and taking their hats off, the ultimate sign of respect. Japan is so dope. My buddies would probably say “damn you let yourself go, huh”.
