Today is a MASSIVE recovery day from all the action we had last night! On a scale of 1-10 if we had to rate how much action we had yesterday, I would probably give it Vin Diesel. Does that make any sense? Absolutely not. But did we just go there? We absolutely did! Dodgers advance to the World Series, Liberty win WNBA Finals, Vikings lose their first, and JETS still stink! What. A. Day. Vin Diesel ladies and gentleman, Vin Diesel.

On This Day…

On this date in 1964, the Milwaukee Braves of the National League ask the MLB to allow them to move to Atlanta, Georgia.

Did you know the Braves were in Milwaukee? The Braves left Milwaukee and the city was left without an MLB team until 1970, when the Seattle Pilots relocated there.

🏈 NFL Round Up

You betcha we’re going to talk the NFL this morning, I mean, we ARE a sports newsletter. We’re talking big wins, big losses, the injury bug, and more!

Big Performances💥:

  • Seattle Seahawks: In a battle of birds, the Seahawks were victorious over the Falcons. Seattle never trailed in this game and their defense looked like the Seahawks of old. Seattle 34, Falcons 14.

  • Buffalo Bills: Down going into halftime against a back up QB, the Bills were in serious trouble. Until someone woke them up from their siesta. Buffalo scored 27 unanswered points in the second half, including a TD pass to new a Bill, Amari Cooper!

  • Saquon Barkley: Returning to MetLife for the first time as a Philadelphia Eagle, Barkley was ready to roll. The former Giants first-round pick felt right at home with 176 yards on 17 carries, averaging over 10 yards per carry.

  • Commanders: It started with a 67-yard interception return by Dante Fowler Jr., and it didn’t stop there. The Commanders absolutely dominated the Panthers, leading by the score of 37-0 in the fourth quarter. Washington’s QB Jayden Daniels did leave the game with a rib injury, but the offense didn’t skip a beat with backup QB Marcus Mariota.

Down to the Wire🤒:

  • Super Bowl Rematch: The Chiefs were able to handle business against the 49ers yesterday, with a final score of 28-18. It was a two-point game going into the fourth quarter but the Chiefs took over from there. Touchdowns on back-to-back drives knock the wind out of the Niners.

  • Vikings No Longer Unbeaten: In a matchup of the two best in the NFC North, the Lions were able to prevail on the road. A late FG by Jake Bates gave the Lions the lead. The Vikings scored three separate times in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Lions now sit atop the division.

Injury Bug🐛:

  • Deshaun Watson: The Browns already are down in the dumps, but things got worst yesterday when their starting QB, Deshaun Watson, was carted off the field with what looks to be a torn Achilles. The Browns will turn to either Dorian Thompson-Robinson or Jameis Winston to finish out the season at QB.

  • Brandon Aiyuk: The offseason drama of Brandon Aiyuk and his trade request out of San Francisco came to an end a month or two. Now, the Niners fear that Aiyuk has a torn ACL. The star WR will undergo further testing today.

  • Jayden Daniels: The rookie sensation left yesterday’s blow-out of the Panthers with a rib injury he suffered on a scramble. He will undergo more tests today and his status is currently uncertain. Luckily for Washington, it doesn’t seem too bad for the young gunslinger.

Yesterday, In a Nutshell

🏀 WNBA Finals: Oh. My. God. Not a whole lot of offense in this game, but it had everything else! OT, a 1-19 shooting performance, and a first-time champion! The NEW YORK LIBERTY are WNBA Champions! Defeated the Lynx, 67-62 in OT, to win the series 3-2!

NLCS: The BIG ONE is set!!! And it’s gonna be a good one! Last night, the Dodgers defeated the Mets, 10-5, and won the series, 4-2! The magical run for the Mets has come to an end, but it was a great one! The WORLD SERIES IS SET for Dodgers-Yankees!

🏈 Black Sunday: We’re just over halfway through the college football season and some schools have already started to move on from their coaches. Eastern Carolina parted ways with their head man Mike Houston after a 3-4 start, defensive coordinator Blake Harrell was named interim head coach. Southern Miss let go of their head coach Will Hall after a 14-30 record in 3 years and some change. The Oklahoma Sooners fired their offensive coordinator, Seth Littrell.

MLS Record ALERT! With football dominating this weekend’s newsfeeds, Messi and Inter Miami flew under the radar. A Messi hat trick helped Inter Miami break the MLS record for most points in a single season. Miami concluded the regular season with 74 points in 34 games and a record of 22-4-8.

💯Top Performers:

  • 🏈 Saquon Barkley: 17 carries, 176 yards, tuddy, win over old team!

  • 🏈 Josh Allen: 21/33, 323 yards, 2 touchdowns

  • 🏀 Nyara Sabally (Liberty) - 13 points, 7 rebounds off the bench!

  • Dodgers Bullpen - Unreal performance from SEVEN different Dodgers pitchers to clinch the NLCS!
