Good Morning, Stumpers!
There are championships every single year, but every few years we have a moments above the rest. The Cavs 3-1 comeback. The Pats 28-3 game. Miracle on Ice. The culmination of what happened yesterday at the Masters will go down as one of the best moments ever. It was about as rollercoaster of a day you can get in golf ever! But why? Not just because of Rory’s win, but because that win meant so much more than golf!

If you can think of a more memorable moment in the game of golf, be my guess. Because I can’t think of a single one that meant more to a golfer, more to a community, and more to the game of golf then when Tiger Woods won his fifth Masters.
On this day in 2019, Tiger Woods successfully completed his comeback by winning The Masters tournament in a pure Tiger-esque performance. Tiger held off major champions Xander Schauffele, Dustin Johnson, and Brooks Koepka to win his 15th major and first in 11 years.

Bigger Than Golf
⛳️ A Story of Perseverance
Yesterday was Day 4 of possibly one of the greatest Masters tournaments of all time! Not an overreaction! What a day. Did Rory win and is that goosebumps and tears worthy, yeah it is, but it was more than that.
Even the strongest of warriors would be disheartened, setback after setback. But it takes something well past ‘strong’ to get back on the horse over and over again, heartbreak after heartbreak.
Rory hadn’t won a major since 2014, and the narrative had become that he was a choker in the biggest moments. Yesterday afternoon seemed to be him fighting every single demon there could be in the lore of golf. He double-bogeyed the 1st, watched a 4 stroke lead evaporate on the back nine, and then missed a short one on 18 to win the tournament. It was completely out of a movie.
Even if you aren’t a Rory fan, you were sitting there like, ‘No, how can somebody go through this again and again.’
I think what this is was all about, early articles out there are calling this the ‘Greatest Masters of all time’, and I’d go as far as calling this one of the sports moments of the decade. But I think the question is ‘Why?’
Why is it so important? So big on the scale of moments? I can’t think of a moment in sports recently, that shows resolve like this. Rory has been the butt end of jokes for a decade now. The hours of sleep he’s probably lost because of some his tournament mishaps, the times he’s seen comments on social media, the number of times reporters have asked him about his shortcomings, one can only imagine what it is to go through that at that level.
But through that all…he fought, and he battled, and he scratched and he clawed.
He tried his hardest to give it away too yesterday, but man I think it was the power of perseverance alone that won him that green jacket. I can see the golf gods up top saying, ‘Man, what the f*ck is keeping this guy standing?! We’ve thrown every single thing we can at this guy, and he just isn’t backing down!’
So why is this so important? Because it is a lesson I know I am going to take with me moving forward. You don’t stop. You never stop. No matter what. You fight, and you battle, and you scratch, and you claw! I’ll going to keep that in mind for this Stump, what are you going to keep that in mind for?
This was bigger than golf! This was simply to show everybody that you never give up! EVER!

🏀 NBA Postseason Is Set!
Well yesterday was game 82 of the regular season! Where does that leave us? Postseason time! Well we’ve got play-in games first and then postseason time! Here’s all the matchups…
Actually, here’s the picture right above. Might make things easier. There’s a lot to unpack, we’re set for absolute fireworks on the west and maybe some sparklers on the east. Either way, this is set up to be a great postseason!
🏒 Winnipeg Jets Win Presidents’ Trophy
The Winnipeg Jets are the NHL’s best team of the 2024-25 regular season! With a record of 55-24-2, the Jets clinched the best record and homefield advantage throughout the postseason!
The glue guy of this operation is none other than the man in net! Connor Hellebuyck has been an absolute stud in net all year and is set up to win his third career Vezina Trophy (best goaltender in the NHL). There often is a dropoff between regular season wins and then the Stanley Cup. The last team to have the best regular season record and then win the whole thing was the Blackhawks in 2013. We’ll see if the Jets can break the pattern!
