⛳️ Masters Week Continues…TIGER WOODS!

It wouldn’t be Masters week without a lot of Tiger Woods talk. Today we flashback to 2001 when Tiger put on yet another green jacket.
It was on this day in 2001 when Tiger Woods won his second Masters Tournament. Tiger went on to win many more, including the 2019 Tournament which will go down as one of the great majors of all time. Sucks that an injury took him away from this years tourney, but one can only hope that he will be back on a course again.

🐊 Florida Gators! Seemed Destined!

WOW! What an insane ending to a relatively calm March! The Florida Gators did what they had done all tournament long and stayed the course even when they were down, and mounted a comeback! Florida 65. Houston 63.
Man. Even when they were down 10 yesterday, you just felt that Florida was never out of the game. All tournament they have showed resolve when things weren’t going their way. When they needed to make shots someone would always step up, and usually that was Walter Clayton Jr.
Yesterday, he couldn’t buy a bucket for the first 30 minutes of the game. Up to that point it was Richard, Condon, and Haugh who were keeping them afloat. But when the going got tough, the tough got going! Clayton ended with 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists, which all came down the stretch.
The story of this game is once again going to be the comeback. Florida led for only 63 seconds of game clock, and they were down by as much as 12.
The ending is going to hurt for Houston. The final play ended with no shot for the Cougars, a turnover as time expired, and then the confetti fell. This was a great year for Kelvin Sampson’s Houston squad, they were dominant all year and made it as far as you can go, they just ran into a team that could comeback from any deficit.
This is Florida’s third National Title. The first after they went back-to-back in 2006-07 under Billy Donovan. They now further themselves into a rare class of school that have 3 National Titles.
Some ending rapid fire facts for you. There were no five star recruits or high school all-americans on this team. Nobody knew of their two leading scorers or their starting center 4 years ago. Coach Todd Golden had ZERO tournament wins before March, and now he is the youngest coach ever to win (42). If you looked at this team from where they all came from, you wouldn’t expect to be the king of the dance, but that’s exactly what they are.
Congrats Gator Nation.

❤️ Duran Shares Shocking, but Powerful Story
The Boston Red Sox are currently being featured in a Netflix docuseries, “The Clubhouse: A Year With the Red Sox”, which followed the team throughout last season. All-star outfielder Jarren Duran, in an interview on the series, admitted that his struggles to not meet expectations led him to a very dark space. So much so, that he attempted suicide. Luckily, Duran survived. Since then, his play has improved, but so has his mental health. What he is doing by shining light on this is incredibly powerful. Extremely powerful. When voices like Duran, someone who so many people aspire to be like, discusses their struggles with mental health it makes others feel less alone. On the Red Sox broadcast, the commentators brought up the fact that since the story was released, the suicide hotline in Boston has seen an increase in volume. Because of Duran, people are less afraid to reach out for help. As Alex Cora said about the story, “Jarren is going to save a lot of lives”, it looks like he already is. Proud to be a Red Sox fan today, because of him.
🏀 Kris Jenkins Sues NCAA and Big East
Remember Villanova’s Kris Jenkins, the one who hit the buzzer-beater in the National Championship for the Wildcats against North Carolina? Yeah, him. He just sued the NCAA. This is just the newest development in the whole world of NIL. Jenkins is saying that the NCAA as well as 6 other conferences restricted his ability to capitalize off of his name, image, and likeness while he was at Villanova. He says that the NCAA has benefited much more than he has from what he did that game. I don’t what to think about all this but there’s a lot going on here. We’ll keep tabs on the situation.
🏈 Panthers Sign Coastal Carolina Basketball Player
This is not the first time that an NFL team has experimented with a college basketball player and turned him into an NFL tight end. To name a few: Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham, Darren Fells. This time, it’s Colin Granger who will try to make the transition. This dude is BIG. Listed at 6'8”, 245lbs and played five years of college basketball at Ohio, Western Carolina, and most recently Coastal Carolina. Granger hasn’t played football since the eight grade, but has been working with George Fant, who Panthers head coach Dave Canales worked with as a college basketball player turned NFL tackle/tight end when the two were together in Seattle. If Granger can be anything like Fant, who has played 7 seasons in the NFL, I’d think the Panthers would consider this experiment a success.
