šŸŒ”ļø The Fever FEVER Comes to an End!

Fought to the very end...

Good Morning, Stumpers!

There’s something about a team playing with house money that makes them the most dangerous team on the block. We just got to see that with the run the Indiana Fever made this postseason. Without Caitlin Clark, they were still just one Overtime period away from making the WNBA Finals! NUTS! Happy Wednesday everybody! Today we’re talking about the Fever FEVER!

Stump Story / Glue Of The Day

šŸŒ”ļø The Fever FEVER Comes to an End!

One of the coolest things in postseason runs is when teams overachieve. Doing it full strength is one thing, but doing it without your superstar is something else entirely.

The underdog is one of the great aspects of sports. When a team has no business making a late postseason run, but they do it anyway, it’s special. I immediately think to NC State in the NCAA Tournament, the NY Giants in 2008, Tiger Woods in 2018. When people don’t think you have it in you to make a run, and you do it anyway, man…that’s something.

When Caitlin Clark went down for the season for the Indiana Fever, the season seemed like a bit of a wash. They didn’t have their star, their record wasn’t great to begin with, and maybe they would sneak in as an 8-seed. Nope, they buckled down to end the regular season winning 5 of their last 7, and 3 of their last 3. This propelled them to the 6-seed, and a chance to make a run.

It takes everybody in these situations, and that’s what the Fever had these last two weeks. Everybody.

It took all three games in their first round series against the Atlanta Dream, and then just last night they took one of the best teams in the league, the Las Vegas Aces, to OVERTIME in the fifth and final game.

Some nights it was Kelsey Mitchell, others Aaliyah Boston, Lexie Hull, or yesterday Odyssey Sims, who had 27 (her season high).

The storybook endings are always great, but we don’t get them often in sports.

This is no doubt this is just the beginning for the Fever. They were one game away from the WNBA Finals, and they were without their MEGASTAR.

But, until then we have the Phoenix Mercury vs the Las Vegas Aces for all the marbles in a 7-game series! This one is going to be good!

Of! The! Day’s!
