Big-time players make big-time plays.
Today’s Stump Story…
🦌 Rudolph, The Original Underdog Story
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall, the most famous reindeer or all?
Not all reindeer are built the same. Rudolph, the son of Donner, the former lead reindeer on Santa’s sleigh, and his wife who is known professionally as Mrs. Donner, was born into one of the most successful reindeer families on the North Pole. That kind of birthright brings forth a lot of pressure, and Rudolph felt that pressure.
Rudolph was blessed with a special feature, as many of you may know, a red nose. What was a blessing to him, was a feature that others did not enjoy. Rudolph was left out of reindeer games, he was laughed at and called names. His father even tried to cover it up with some black coloring and then a cover to try and hide the nose.
Rudolph just wanted to fly, he wanted to be a reindeer, he just really wanted to be one of the guys. It wasn’t until one foggy Christmas Eve that Rudolph finally got called into the big leagues.
Santa came to him and said, “Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight”? The moment Rudolph had been waiting for had finally come. Big time players perform in big time moments.
He led the sleigh, saved Christmas, and became a hero not only on the North Pole, but across the world. This goes to show the resilience it takes, the belief in yourself, the patience Rudolph always had inside of him. Rudolph saved Christmas. A true underdog story.
Quick Hitters
🤝 The top QB in the Transfer Portal, Fernando Mendoza, has picked Indiana as his next university. Mendoza played last season at Cal and has 19 career starts. He accounted for 18 total touchdowns with six interceptions, throwing for over 3,000 yards. His younger brother, Alberto, was a true freshman backup quarterback at Indiana, a connection that proved pivotal in Fernando’s recruitment.
🏈 Hawai’i Bowl: Yesterday, there were NO NFL games, NO NBA games, NO NHL games, NO NOTHING! There was no college basketball and no soccer. What did we have? One. Singular. Bowl Game. USF faced off against San Jose State in the Hawai’i Bowl! If you had this game on last night on your TV you’re an absolute SICKO and we love it! 4 quarters weren’t enough to settle it between these two squads, AND NEITHER WERE 4 OTs! A game that went to 5OT ended in a 41-39 USF win! If you felt committed and watched this whole game, you’re an absolute warrior!
🏆️ Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark named AP Female Athlete of the Year. Clark raised the profile of women’s basketball to unprecedented levels in both the college ranks and WNBA. Clark is only the fourth women’s basketball player to honored as the female athlete of the year since it was first presented in 1931, joining Sheryl Swoopes, Rebecca Lobo, and Candace Parker.
