What Caught Our Eye👀

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️

This Isn’t A Throwaway Game In Rochester! This Is The Olympics!

No time for feelings in the Olympics, Jayson Tatum got no minutes on an all-star cast. How did this happen?

When it comes to the Olympics we’re dealing with the best of the best. All sports, all events, the best of the best. One of highlights of the Olympics has always been basketball, especially when it comes to the United States.

This year is no different, we’ve assembled the Avengers! The two stars of our generation, LeBron James and Steph Curry are teammates for the first time ever. Stars such as Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Jrue Holiday are also on the team (slid in Jrue Holiday there but we’re going to roll with it). Along with them we’ve got the stars of this generation. We’ve got Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker, and Jayson Tatum.

Yesterday The US had their group stage opener against Serbia. They won 110-84. A win is great but today we’re not here to talk about the win. We’re here to talk about Jayson Tatum.

If you look at the box score, you’ll see a lot. KD led all scoring with 23 points. LeBron tacked on 21 of his one. Derrick White logged 15 minutes of his own.

So much happened yet this past year the best player of the best team was Jayson Tatum. Yes he was on a star-studded cast but he led his team and bulldozed through the East as well as the Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. All this and in the opening game yesterday Tatum did not go in, not for a second.

Steve Kerr is tasked with a tough job. 12 of the best players in the entire league have been assembled and he has to decide who plays and who doesn’t. After the game Kerr said ‘I felt like an idiot’ for not playing Tatum.

USA Basketball is not for feelings, and it isn’t for the faint of heart. Some people aren’t going to play and that’s that. Do I think that Tatum is going to sit for the entire Games? No I do not. But are egos going to be hurt in search for another Gold? Most likely.

As the great Herb Brooks said, “This isn’t a throwaway game up in Rochester! This is Sweden. IN THE OLYMPICS!”

Well it isn’t Sweden yet but it is the Olympics. It’ll be interesting to see how everything shapes up with this team.
