The New York Giants (yes baseball) had an MVP Pitcher by the name of Carl Hubbell. He just came off winning the NL MVP, and the team rewarded him with a record-breaking contract!

It was $18,000.

Let’s rewind back to Week 1 of the 2018 NFL Season to talk about 2 guys who are now MVP Candidates yet again!

Does anybody remember the Nathan Peterman experiment in Buffalo? As a Bills fan, I absolutely do. It was a rough 2-week stretch where he threw 7 interceptions. Of course, there was that infamous Week 2 game against the Chargers where he threw 5 in one game, but before that, there was the Week 1 matchup against the Ravens.

That week one matchup started as Joe Flacco vs Nathan Peterman in Baltimore! We were just 4 minutes into the second half and the Ravens were up 40-0! FORTY TO ZERO! May have been the greatest 40-point deficit of all time because after that, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson both got their NFL debut…and it was against each other!

They came in because the game was already over, and both played some UGLYYY BALL! Josh had a 40% completion percentage and a 56,0 QB Rating, and Lamar Jackson had a 25% completion percentage and a 52.1 QB Rating!

Well, 6 years later and those two are 1A and 1B in the MVP conversation and they are facing off in what is one of the most anticipated Divisional Round games in forever! The latest chapter gets written on Sunday, but this started on a rainy September day in 2018! We’re in for a treat!

Quick Hitters

🏀 We had a SHOWDOWN between the two teams with the best records in the league! The Cleveland Cavs traveled to OKC to face off against the Thunder a week after handing them a loss in Cleveland. This one was all OKC from the start! SGA dropped a game-high 40, and the Thunder rolled to a 134-114, victory. And quite frankly, it wasn’t that close. This could very well be an NBA Finals preview! Can you imagine that!?

🏈 Tom Brady plans to fulfill his 10-year broadcasting deal with FOX to call NFL games after some speculation that he would not. In an interview with the Sports Business Journal, Brady said that he had a tremendous amount of fun this year and is excited for the future with FOX. The first couple of weeks might have been shaky, but I‘ll tell you what I don’t mind Brady in the booth, the guy is starting to pick it up!

🏈 Joe Mixon is listed as questionable for the Houston Texans ahead of their Divisional Round matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs! This is a loss that they cannot afford. The closer this game gets, for some reason, my dumb brain believes more and more that Houston has a chance. Is that absolutely CRAZY!?!? That being said, Mixon will definitely grit this one out, they need him!
