On this day in 2006…

San Francisco Giant Barry Bonds passes Babe Ruth after hitting his 715th career home run to become the all-time leader.

Bonds finished his career with 762 home runs but has been criticized and left out of the Hall of Fame for his use of steroids. Bonds, among other legends of his era, have been kept from baseball immortality for similar drug use speculations.

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️

Kavanagh Brothers Notre Dame Goes Back-To-Back! 🥍

“We didn’t come here just to play games, win or lose,” the youngest of the Kavanaghs, Chris, said in an interview earlier this season. “We came here to win a National Championship and to doing it with your brother by your side is just insane, it’s unbelievable.”

In their last game as collegiate Lacrosse teammates for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, brothers Chris and Pat Kavanagh did what they have done to so many teams during their time together.

They put on a show.

Yesterday was the National Championship for Lacrosse and Notre Dame faced off against Maryland. Maryland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and then the massacre ensued. Pat scored 5 goals and Chris tacked on 6 assists (both of which tied tournament records for the Irish) to win 15-5 and earn Back-To-Back National Championships.

The Irish went 16-1 on the year and that doesn’t even show how dominant they were. In the ACC Tournament, they obliterated Virginia in the semis and Duke in the Finals. In the NCAA Tournament, none of their 4 rounds were particularly close either.

In 2022, Chris (Freshman) and Pat (Junior) took the field together for the first time and reached their lifelong dream, which was to play together at the college level. After a feeling it out year for both them and their team, they never looked back. In 2023 they posted an impressive 14-2 record on route to their first ever National Championship. This year they decided to go with only 1 loss on their way to their second chip.

Brothers. Teammates. Allstars. All of the above. These two brought Notre Dame to a level they have never reached before and to even watch the highlights of them throwing absurd skip passes or unimaginable behind the back goals has been an absolute treat.

If you want a 30-second blip of how much heart, grit, and determination these two have watch a clip from last year’s championship game where Pat was deciding whether or not to play…it is phenomenal! Congrats on a great collegiate career Pat, and here’s to three in a row Chris!

JUICE STATION🧃

Quote OTD

“We suffer more often in imagination than in reality” Seneca

Get out of your own head. Take a deep breath, clear your mind, and move on. Make the best out of bad situations, use your mindset as a superpower.

Song OTD

Evergreen

Richy Mitch & The Coal Miner

Short but sweet. Iconic song. Was popular for a while on social media but I don’t think it ever really got it’s flowers.

Glue Guy OTD

Hot Dog Bun

I think the hot dog bun may be one of the gluest of the roll varieties. While it may be a simple invention, this guy holds onto toppings for DEAR LIFE. Unlike the burger bun or sandwich roll where you may lose things on any given bite, the hot dog bun holds on.

DAILY STUMPED ANSWER

B. Pip! A LITTLE self-centered if you ask me, but who am I to judge. This guy is one of the all-time greats and will go down in history alongside MJ as one of the best greatest one-two punches ever in the NBA.
