STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️
Sunday Stumpsets!
A big day of sports action around the world, we wanted to take today’s story and focus on the underdogs who managed to take home some big wins!
Linnea Storm: LPGA Love!
Linnea Storm, the 27-year-old Swede, entered the final day of the LPGA ShopRite Classic down 7-strokes. The day before she had made the cut on the number and managed to stay alive for a final push. She teed off at 8:20 AM yesterday, just about 4 hours before the leaders and was tied for 52nd. She had nine birdies and an eagle to pull ahead of the pack at -14, the score that eventually was the winner. Let’s take a look at her performance, by the numbers:
She had the lowest final-round score by a winner in LPGA Tour history (The previous best final round for a winner was a 61 by Inbee Park in the 2014 Manulife Financial LPGA Classic)
She had the second lowest scoring round in LPGA history (Annika Sorenstam set the record with a 59 in the second round of the 2001 Standard Register PING)
By far the biggest comeback by position on the tour since 1984 (The previous largest comeback by position since 1984 was Ayako Okamoto from a tie for 23rd at the 1987 Lady Keystone Open)
One thing I haven’t mentioned about Linnea, this was her first win on tour. She had missed the cut in five of her last six events. She never gave up this weekend. Miracles can happen! Congrats, Linnea!
Florida Baseball: A Pulse!
The #6 team in the country, the Clemson Tigers, headed into this weekend with home field advantage and one of the hotter lineups in baseball. That was until they met the Gators. The unranked Gators squad had a unusually tough year, but the boys got hot late into the season and SQUEAKED their way into the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers and Gators went into an absolute marathon today in South Carolina, with the game lasting 13 innings and clocking in at over 5 hours of gametime. Woof. The game was back in fourth and the Tigers threw everything they could at the Gators, including some heroics from their Centerfielder Cam Cannarella, who had a game-tying homer in the 9th and made a over the shoulder basket catch to save the game winning run from scoring in the 10th innings.
After Clemson took the lead with a huge homer in the 13th, things got chippy and two of Clemson’s managers were thrown from the ball game. Florida brought in two runs in the bottom of the 13th to win the ballgame. Not many gave the Gators a fighting chance in this series, but the boys kept Chomping. Florida has now went to nine straight College World Series’, an unprecedented record.

Quote of the Day
“He’s so proud of you!” Meredith Scheffler Scottie and his wife Meredith shared an awesome moment with their newborn child, Bennett, following Scotties win. Meredith, speaking in baby voice and all, said to Scottie referring to Bennett being proud of him. Cool moment that puts a lot in perspective. |

Glue Guy of the Day
Defined: Glue Guy (Noun, Verb, Adj., etc.) - a person, thing, idea, or thought that holds together the larger group. Not the star, not the main character, but a hard hat and lunch pale type who knows its role. The GLUE of the group.
Advil I mean come ON. This feels too easy. Literally the GLUE of life at times. Headache? Knee pain? Hungover? All the above? Advil to the rescue. Big Pharma loves this one. |
