🏀 On this day in 1989, the Minnesota Timberwolves make their NBA debut! They lost 106-94, but the T-Wolves would come back strong, well kinda. They wouldn’t make the playoffs until their 8th year of existence.

The Timberwolves have never made the finals, but have made it to the conference finals twice: 2003-04 & last season. The T’wolves seem to be in good hands now with Ant Edwards.

Every week there seems to be one game where you drop your jaw when you see the final, but this week, there were 3!

South Carolina vs (10) Texas A&M: It’s been one of those seasons for South Carolina, they’ve been in every game they’ve played. Some things just haven’t gone their way at the end. Last night, everything went their way. With the home crowd roaring, South Carolina outscored Texas A&M 24-0 in the second half, and then the students came storming! LaNorris Sellers, the Gamecocks QB, and the whole squad ran all over the Aggies en route to a 44-20 win.

Texas Tech @ (12) Iowa State: Texas Tech got the ball back, down 6, with just about two minutes left. On the road, hostile environment, against an undefeated Iowa State squad. Could Behren Morton lead the troops to victory? He could. Tech went 71 yards on 10 plays for a Tahj Brook’s 5-yard touchdown with 19-seconds left in the ballgame. Now THAT’S a win! The stud of the game was Tahj Brooks, who ran the rock 25 times for 122 yards and a tuddy.

Louisville @ (11) Clemson: This may be biased, and I’m sorry if this hurts your feelings, but I like when Clemson loses. Not only loses, but in an embarrassing way. And that came in the form of not one, but TWO blocked field goal attempts, one of which was taken back for a Louisville touchdown. And I don’t feel bad, because Clemson fans threw crap all over the field yesterday after they didn’t agree with a call that was obviously the right call. Huge win for Louisville on the road, brutal loss for Clemson and their postseason hopes.

🏀 It was a beautiful night in Toronto yesterday as the Raptors retired the name and number of one of the best to ever put on the jersey, Vince Carter. Not only was his jersey retired, but it was the first retirement in Raptors history. Carter was extremely emotional as his name and number went up into the rafters at Scotia Bank Arena. Carter is the only player in NBA history to play in four decades. Carter helped build basketball all across Canada, and was an integral part of the growth of the NBA across the country.

🏀 The Cleveland Cavs are the hottest team in the NBA. I’m saying this again. Two days in a row. Yep, you better believe it, baby. Despite a 41-point effort from Damian Lillard and 34 points from the Greek Freak, the Cavs were able to advance to 7-0 on the season with a 114-113 win. Dame hit a classic Dame shot with 9 seconds left to take the lead for the Bucks, but it wasn’t enough. Donovan Mitchell hit a two-point fadeaway as the clock hit .3 seconds to lift the Cavs. Mitchell had 30 points, and unlikely hero Sam Merrill had 17 for Cleveland.

⚾ Wild stuff coming out of the Dominican Republic baseball scene as a prospect known as Cesar Altagracia reportedly LIED about his age. Altagracia verbally signed a $4 million deal with the Padres, which signified he was one of the hottest prospects in the country. The transaction would have come official in January of 2027, when Altagracia was supposed to turn 16. Yesterday, the MLB discovered he is in fact 19 years old, and not the previously stated 14. Woof.

🏈 It’s happeningggggggg in Washington. For the first time in who knows how long, Adam Schefter is reporting that players are actively seeking trades TO the Washington Commanders. This isn’t a joke. Players want to be in Washington. Is it the Daniels effect? The Dan Quinn effect? Who knows? And who cares? It’s real. Get on the Washington Commanders bandwagon now or you’re going to miss it.
