👁️ No Hitter in the Blink of an Eye

Yeah there has been some serious no-hitters in the history of Major League Baseball, but not all no-hitters are built the same.

On this day in 1926, Chicago White Sox pitcher Ted Lyons no-hits the Boston Red Sox 6-0 at Fenway Park. The crazy part? He did it in just 67 minutes! 67! For us non-math goers, that’s one hour and seven minutes. that’s BLAZING! Mr. Lyons wasn’t just dominant, he was efficient.

🏈 Quarterbacks For BIG BLUE!

The New York Giants just finished the preseason 3-0 and every QB that came up to the plate delivered. What’s this season going to look like for the GMEN?

Russell Wilson is set to be the Day 1 starter, and that just makes a lot of sense. He’s the solid veteran guy who will come in and with some dynamic weapons around him could seriously do some damage. He was stuck in Pittsburgh last year with a half-in half-out George Pickens and a collection of other guys who just were not Malik Nabers.

This year we’ll truly get to see how much juice Russ still has in the tank.

Curveball #1: Famous Jameis Winston! No matter where this guy is, he will no doubt be suiting up for two games and be throwing for 400 yards a game and 3 TDs. It’s just what he does. Hopefully this isn’t because of any big injury or debacle from Russ, but it’s just bound to happen

Curveball #2: The ROOK! It’s just preseason, so we can’t crown anybody the “Preseason Champs”, but it was a solid showing from rookie Jaxson Dart. He ended with 4 TDs and 0 INT, and did not look like a rookie. Here’s the thing. How much of a leash is Brian Daboll going to have? I’m a big believer in DABES, but you gotta think if the Giants end 5-12, they might not keep him around. That being said, he finally was able to hand pick his guy, his QB. If the boys are 2-5 and NY is ready to set the city on fire, you think he isn’t going to throw his rookie out there as a Hail Mary? I don’t know, but I could see it.

Curveball #3: He isn’t really a curveball, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the fact that Tommy DeVito is still on this roster and that he went 17/20 with 3 TDs and 0 INT yesterday….BEAST!

Anyway, would love to hear from Giants fans what they think is going to happen. I honestly Russ could say to hell with all of that and play lights out this year, I could see it happening 🤷

⚾️ Fireworks in the Little League World Series

The Stump Short Story: Let’s talk about the battle that commenced Wednesday night between South Carolina and South Dakota. If you haven’t been totally locked into the LLWS, don’t fret, you’re not alone. First things first just want to get this out of the way, even though it’s called the Little League World Series, it’s not actually the championship yet, it’s all part of the bracket that leads up to the World Series itself. Anywho, all of that aside, we had a BARNBURNER between the two “South’s”. This is more of a see it to believe it type of game, these kids are young teens and the pressure situations they are facing at this stage are crazy, here’s the link, forward to the fifth inning for the fireworks! (Side note: Only 6 innings total in this game, not 9)

Why it Matters: You don’t see the LLWS get as much coverage as it should. There’s truthfully a lot of sports like that, just the way it goes. Slowly we’ll start hitting on them one at a time. It’s a fun world!

⛳️ Scottie Stays Hot After Day 1 at TOUR Championship

The Stump Short Story: We’ve got the top 30 players on TOUR this season all battling at East Lake Golf Course it Atlanta for the TOUR Championship. Last week we saw Scottie track down everybody en route to another comeback win this season. This week he’s started off much hotter. In the lead we have Russell Henley who carded an INSANE bogey-free -9, which was his low round on Tour. Right behind him is Thanos himself. Scottie sits alone in 2nd place at -7.

Why it Matters: We’ve got a tight leaderboard behind them with a hodge-podge of characters at -6 and then -4. Guys like Cantlay, Fleetwood, Bobby Mac, and JT at -6, and then Rory, Griffin, and Akshay Bhatia at -4. It’s one of the bigger tournaments of the year, and we’re slated for some fun golf this weekend, stay tuned!
