We were absolutely BLESSED to get some of the College Basketball matchups we got last night. From Marquette-Iowa State, to UConn-Baylor, to Auburn-Duke, alllll the way to Creighton-Kansas, it was a stacked night. Couldn’t keep up with all the action? Totally get it. That’s what we’re here for… LET’S GET STUMPIN!
Today’s Trivia🧠
What is the record for the most red cards in a single soccer match? |

On This Day…
🏒 On this day in 1970, the Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy, and Bill Masterson Trophy were STOLEN from the Hockey Hall of Fame!
While the Conn Smythe and the Bill Masterson Trophy were recovered relatively quick, the Cup was not. The trophy remained at large for SEVEN YEARS, eventually being found after an anonymous tip led police to its location.
Today’s Stump Story…
🏀 Primetime College Basketball Matchups
Some really good college ball games last night in PRIMETIME, let’s get into the best games across the country:
Blue Devils Hand #2 Auburn first loss: Two of the sports best faced off last night in Johni Broome and Cooper Flagg. Neither dissapointed. Duke took a 7-point lead into halftime and kept the momentum going in front of their home crowd. Duke was ranked #9 but is primed for a jump after this win! Auburn loses their first game fresh off of winning the Maui Invitational!
UConn Gets Back on Track: After losing three straight in Maui, the Huskies were left scratching their heads about what this season may entail after winning back-to-back nattys. It wouldn’t get any easier, either. The (25) Huskies welcomed (15) Baylor Bears to town. Both teams happened to be without their star players, so the playing field was evened out. The Huskies got off to a slow start, falling behind 19-8. UConn stormed back and eventually took the lead late in the first half. They led almost the whole second half and were able to hit free throws down the stretch to win it. Liam McNeeley and Aidan Mahoney had clutch performances for the Huskies, getting them back on track.
#1 Falls in Omaha: It was a battle of two of the best basketball programs in middle America, as the number one team in the land, Kansas, traveled to Omaha to take on unranked Creighton. The Blue Jays entered the season ranked, but had fallen out this week. Well, that won’t last. (1) Kansas never led in the game and fell behind 10-2 early. From that point on, the Blue Jays never looked back. Creighton shot above 44% combined three and two point shots, including outrebounding the Jayhawks 44-31. What was most shocking was how much more physical Creighton looked. Pop Isaacs was a massive boost for Creighton, dropping 27 points on 66% shooting.
Bama Can Score: (10) Alabama kept (20) North Carolina about an arms length away all game. Winning at the Dean Center in Chapel Hill is never easy, but Bama sure made it look like it is. Alabama got off to a hot start and never got cold, scoring 94 points on the road against a ranked opponent. UNC now falls to 4-4, and will most likely fall out of the Top 25 next week.
Cyclones Pull Away Late: (6) Iowa State welcomes (5) Marquette to town last night and seemed to have the game well under control, until they didn’t. Iowa State spent almost the whole middle portion of the game up about 10 points, but a 10-0 Marquette run about half way through the second half tied the ball game at 61-61. Iowa State went on to outscore Marquette 20-9 to finish the game, winning 81-70.

🏀 The Connecticut Sun have finalized its leadership. Former UConn and WNBA star Morgan Tuck is their General Manager, and hired Belgian women’s national team head coach Rachid Meziane to be the new headman. Tuck has spent the last few years as a basketball strategist with the organization. Meziane has experience coaching professionally in France, and also spent the last two years leading Belgium. He hopes to bring the Sun to their first WNBA championship.
🃏 Poker pro Cory Zeidman pleaded guilty to a bettor fraud scheme yesterday in New York and Florida for falsely claiming to have insider information on sporting events. Federal authorities allege that Zeidmen and his partners misled customers to pay the organization for betting advice by claiming to have knowledge of nonpublic injury information, potentially “dirty” refs, and fixed games. The scheme lasted from 2016-2020.
🏈 The Ravens suspended WR Diontae Johnson for one game for conduct detrimental to the team. Apparently, Johnson refused to enter Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Baltimore is on bye this week and will serve his suspension in Week 15 against the New York Giants. In four games this year he has one catch for six yards.
