A Spider Bite From Hell

Preseason Football, Day 3 of the St. Jude's Championship, and a Not So Common MLB Injury

SUNDAYYYY. A whole lot of Preseason football yesterday. Caleb Williams had the throw of the day until Patrick Mahomes legitimately threw the ball behind his back. The guy’s not human. Speaking of QBs what the hell is going on in Pittsburgh? Who’s the guy? Let’s dissect ALL OF IT! We’ll keep the feedback form active, so don’t be afraid to let us know what you think!

People Aren’t Talking Enough About…

🕸️ A Spider Bite From Hell 🕷️

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Ryan Pepiot returned to the pitching rotation yesterday after missing about 6 weeks with a pretty unique injury. He threw 5 1/3 innings, struck out 5 hitters, and only allowed two runs. That’s a pretty quality start. But I’m not here to talk about his start.

Pepiot came back from the All-Star break with some bug bites on his leg after playing some golf. Pepiot joined the team for their trip to NYC to face off against the Yankees. The bug bites on his knee were getting worse, they were swelling. It got so bad that he couldn’t even walk into the hospital under his own power.

Pepiot received antibiotics in his right knee at Columbia Medical Center in New York and was placed on the 15-day injured list. Pepiot says the first couple days after leaving the hospital were real rough, he couldn’t really walk, he could barely put any pressure on his right leg.

Now that the swelling has came down, he was ready to get back onto the mound to pitch. He has admitted he will be wearing pants out on the golf course moving forward. I don’t know about you all, but I don’t think I’d go anywhere near the outside world for awhile after that.

Today’s Trivia🧠

We know about the 53-man roster for opening day. But how many players are on NFL Preseason rosters?

  • A. 60

  • B. 70

  • C. 80

  • D. 90

  • E. 100

(answer at the bottom of the Stump!)

On This Day…

In 2018, Imran Khan became the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan. ‘How is this related to sports?’ Well, Khan was a cricket player for the Pakistan National Team, and then got into politics later in his life.

Imagine LeBron decided to hang it up and then moved into politics…AND WON!!! Absolutely nuts!

Now THIS is Cool

⛳️ Day Three From St. Jude’s Championship

Creating Separation: Japan’s most prolific golfer Hideki Matsuyama went 6-under par yesterday to gain a commanding lead over the rest of the field. Nick Dunlap, the American rookie, is in second 5-strokes off the lead. The final group is expected to tee off at 1:40 PM ET today.

When It Rains It Pours: Some HUGE names find themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard: Max Homa is alone in last place with an UGLY +11, Jordan Spieth is next in line with a +7. Rory and Cam Young fall in line at +5 each. Rough week for the fellas.

🏈 If You’re The Steelers GM: Wilson or Fields?

You would think multiple options at QB should be a good thing…

Not too sure about that. It’s just preseason but the Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the Buffalo BIlls, 9-3. Yeah, an absolute BARNBURNER! Here are the stats from Pittsburgh’s two QBs:

Russell Wilson: 8/10, 47 Yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

Justin Fields: 11/17, 92 Yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

Not a great showing from either. Week 1 is getting closer and closer and it’s becoming more and more confusing who the guy is going to be in Pittsburgh!

🏈 IT’S EARLY…..But How’s Caleb Williams Looking?

Number 1 Picks will always be held under the microscope a little more than others. Caleb Williams might never lose a game at this rate because the Bears are 2-0 in the Preseason!

Here’s a dime from Caleb to fellow Top 10 pick Rome Odunze. Bears Fans will be talking about this all week: DIME

Only time will tell how the regular season will look, but it’s an exciting time for……Da Bears.

These guys probably won’t make the team, but man are they glue. 4th quarter BULLDOZERS who are just trying to make a living. Glue.

Trivia Answer: D. 90! Teams will start the preseason with 90 players, and then have to work the roster down to 53 by the start of the season. That means (math in my head) 37 players will be cut in a matter of 4 or so weeks.
