🤿 Diver Shatters Deep Dive Record

Sometimes I think about the ocean and I get pretty uncomfortable just how big it is, but for some people, they don’t really care and want to go DEEP.

On this day in 2019, American diver Victor Vescovo made the deepest dive ever to the bottom of the Mariana trench. Vecovo dove a record 10,927m or 35,849ft. WOW! I’d be absolutely TERRIFIED.

📲 Sanders Prank Call Was Done By WHO?

A video went viral during the NFL Draft of Shedeur Sanders getting a phone call from an unknown number claiming it was Saints GM Mickey Loomis and that Shedeur had been drafted by the Saints. This was in the middle of Shedeur’s slide and the world did not react approvingly of the call.

The son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, Jax, took to social media yesterday to admit that he was the one who made the call and apologized to Sanders. The NFL is looking into the situation, specifically how Jax was able to get a hold of Sanders’ private phone number.

According to Jax, he wrote the number down from his fathers open iPad while visiting his parents home “to later conduct a prank call”. Sheesh. Really bad look. Jax was extremely apologetic in his post, but c’mon now, he’s only apologizing because he got caught.

Sanders wasn’t the only player who was prank called during the draft, Colts first-round pick Tyler Warren admitted that he also received prank calls. Buffalo Bills sixth-round pick Chase Lundt said in his introductory news conference that he received “four or five” prank calls during the draft. So, I guess this is a trend now?

I don’t know, I suppose I don’t understand why people think this is funny? These players have been waiting and working all their lives for that moment and now they have to make sure that the number is actually real and not some prankster? Seems a little ridiculous to me. I hope this doesn’t cause the NFL to go a different route with their draft process, the reactions to the phone calls are one of my favorite things about the draft.

I’m not sure what the solution is, but I do know this, let the kids have their moment and stop trying to make it about you.

🏌️‍♀️ CHAOS in the LPGA

This weeks tournament in the LPGA was the Chevron Championship in Texas, and it got WILD down the stretch. Mao Saigo, the eventual winner, birdied the 18th hole to tie the lead and head to a playoff. But what the crazy is, she was one of FIVE people to tie for the lead. So, five golfers went into the playoff. Saigo faced off against Hyo Joo Kim, Ruoning Yin, Ariya Jutanugarn, and Lindy Duncan. Saigo put an absolute beauty of an approach shot to about 3 feet of the pin on the first playoff hole and was able to knock it in. She was the only one of the five who made birdie, winner winner! This was her first career win on the LPGA, but she was the LPGA Rookie of the Year last season. Saigo took home $1.2 million from a purse of $8 million.

🏀 NBA Playoffs Review

Knicks def Pistons, 94-93: This one was absolute chaos and ended in pure controversy. Karl Anthony Towns made a go-ahead 3-pointer with about 46 seconds to go in the game. The Pistons had the ball for the last possession of the game and a chance to hit a game winner, Tim Hardaway Jr. shot a corner three at the buzzer after a chaotic possession, but obviously drew contact from Josh Hart. There was no foul called, and the Pistons bench went bananas. To make matters worst, David Guthrie, the crew chief for the game, said afterwards that they made a mistake and miss the foul. An absolutely brutal blow for the Pistons, who now fall down 3-1 in the series, making the mountain much harder to climb, especially heading back to New York.

Timberwolves def. Lakers, 116-113: The Anthony Edwards show has officially push Los Angeles to the brink of elimination as the Timberwolves take a 3-1 lead in the series before heading back to LA for Game 5. Ant had an electric 43 points to lead all scorers, including two clutch free throws with 10 seconds left in the ball game to take a three point lead. Despite another strong performance from Luka Doncic (38 points), and LeBron James (27 points), the Lakers bench only managed to put together 6 total points. Dorian Finney-Smith, Austin Reaves, Luka, LeBron, and Rui Hachimura played every single minute of the second half, as head coach JJ Reddick did not sub in or out a single player. A brutal loss for LA who now must rip off 3 straight wins to advance to the next round.

Celtics def. Magic, 107-98: The Celtics may be up three games to one, but again my takeaway from this game was more Magic than Celtics. This Orlando team is TOUGH. They are just one more player away from being great. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are STARS, they by themselves are keeping their team in games against arguably the best team in the league. That being said, the Celtics are the Celtics. Tatum had 37 and 14 and is now second in 30+ point postseason games only behind Larry Bird. He’s almost there too. Celtics up 3-1!

Pacers def. Bucks, 129-103: Unfortunately for Milwaukee, this was no Gary Trent Jr. encore! Things got away from the Bucks early. Dame went down with a leg injury and his status is TBD for the remainder of the series. Outside of Giannis’ 28, the 4 other starters combined for 15. This team should be way better than they are, but they just can’t produce points outside of their Superstar. The Pacers however can produce points a hurry. Tyrese Haliburton had a game-high 15 assists, and 8 Pacers reached double-digit scoring when they totals 129 points. Special stuff over there!

⚽️ Liverpool Takes Home EPL Title

In the first season of the post-Jurgen Klopp world, Liverpool has taken home the Premier League title. Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, did however give a massive shoutout to Jurgen. In fact, he even sang his name into the microphone for all of the stadium to hear. A 5-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur clinched their spot at the top of the table and sent Anfield into an absolute frenzy. Liverpool lifted the trophy for the first time in thirty years back in 2020, but fans were not allowed in the stadium due to Covid-19. So as you can imagine, it was quite the party. Life long Liverpool fans took advantage of their good fortunes to celebrate like it was 1990 and turn Anfield into a pub. It was magic.
