Happy Friday squad! Yesterday we had a lot. The Panthers took a commanding 3-0 lead over the Oilers. In golf, we had the start of the U.S. Open! And multiple walk-offs in the MLB! Big day ahead today! We’ve got Game 4 of the NBA Finals, is Dallas going to show any fight?? They have to right?! We’ve got USA Cricket, and a whole lot more!

The Tiger Woods Problem in America
Tiger came out and struggled again as he finished +4 after day one of the US Open, do we have a Tiger problem in the PGA?
PSA: This is NOT at all a bashing of Tiger Woods. I, like most, love Tiger Woods. His comeback, and the fact he’s even playing golf, is absolute insanity. I’m not talking necessarily about Tiger himself, I’m talking about the talk around him.
Every time Tiger steps on the course, I see a million tweets and Instagram posts, “is this the week he wins again”? Tiger birdied the first hole this morning, and I think social media crashed for a minute. I got notifications from FOUR different accounts.
I get it, we all want Tiger to win. Maybe it’s the expectation that he has created around himself because he’s proved he can do it in spite of any circumstance surrounding him. It’s hard to watch him get up to the podium every time he plays and say, “I have to play better”, or “I just wasn’t sharp today”. It just doesn’t sit right with me. I know it’s the competitor in him, he wants to win more than any of us could possibly ever want him to.
All I’m saying is this: let’s pump the brakes on the expectations. I say this only because I just want to enjoy watching Tiger walk the course. I want to take into account everything his body has been through, and be amazed that he’s even hitting a ball or walking 72 holes. For me, I could care less how he plays. He already proved all he ever could have to the Golf World. He sealed his fate as eternal when he came back and won The Masters.
I don’t need Tiger to be great to enjoy his presence on the course, and neither should the social media world. Let’s not get after him when he’s playing poor, let’s not live and die by his score, and let’s not worry if he wins or loses. Let’s just savor him being on the tour. Let’s take a step back and appreciate all he has done and will continue to do for the game.
You may think I’m dead wrong about this take, and that’s okay. I’ll end with this, Tiger doesn’t have much left in the tank. That’s obvious. So why sweat out his score, when you can just appreciate his greatness? He won’t be in the spotlight on the tour for much longer.
