STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️
NBA Finals: Mind Games or The Truth!
After Game 1 of the Finals Jason Kidd went on the podium and said that Jaylen Brown was the Celtic’s best player. Anybody else think that hurt Tatum’s feelings?
When you get to the NBA Finals, there often isn’t any love lost between the two teams. Even if there isn’t a rivalry going into it, by the end of it one is cemented. In this series all of the posters and commercials have each team having their Batman and Rabin, as well as a supporting cast.
Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum are the Batman’s (at least that’s how they try to show it). And Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown are the Robins.
After the game-one thrashing the Celtics gave the Mavs, Jason Kidd didn’t mince any words when going on to the podium for his post-game press conference.
When asked about Jaylen Brown he quickly said, “Jaylen’s their best player. Looking at what he does defensively, he picked up Luka full court. He got to the free-throw line, he did everything, and that’s what your best player does.”
The Boston situation is one that always baffles me. Everybody always seems so scared to mention Jaylen as the best player on that team. Would it be a hot take? Yes, but in postseason play we’ve seen this more often than not, where Jaylen Brown is the most consistent player on the Boston Celtics.
Jason Kidd has always been known for his tricks. At the beginning of his coaching career, he famously bumped into his own player and spilled his drink to talk to his team. He’s had his tricks before. Could this be another one?
A reporter asked Jrue Holiday to comment on Kidd’s quote and he said, “I mean he’s not wrong.”
For a guy who seems to be just a good, humble, kid. I have never understood the widespread Jayson Tatum hate. People always acknowledge him as the best player on his team, and then go on to talk shit about him. I disagree with every part of that. He absolutely is a great player but GIVE ME JAYLEN BROWN at this point in the season.
We’ve got Game 2 tonight. Maybe Jayson will make me eat my words and win Finals MVP, maybe Porzingis will stay on fire and win’s it. Who knows. The only thing I know for a fact is that this is the last series of the NBA season, and I’m gonna enjoy every minute of it!

Quote of the Day
“Well, Jaylen Brown’s their best player.” Jason Kidd Are these mind games out of Jason Kidd or is he just saying the truth? The STUMP has believed that JB is a better clutch time performer than Tatum, but for Kidd to go and say it on the podium…Let the mind games begin! |

TRIVIA ANSWER
D. 16 years, 2 months! At just 16 years old, Luka began to play professionally in Europe in a league with grown men! It made sense that his game looked so fluid as a rookie in the NBA as he had already been playing at a similar(ish) level for three years.
