🏃‍♂️ Jim Hines is Historically Fast

The 10 second barrier in the 100m sprint was something that eluded mankind for decades. Going back to the earliest recordings of Olympic times, 10 seconds couldn’t be broken. Then, one day, Jim Hines said he was done with all that.

On this day in 1968, Jim Hines, an American football player and sprinter, took to the starting line in the Gold Medal 100m dash in Mexico City. Hines would finish in under 10-seconds, the first man to ever do it. He won gold and his record stood for 15 years.

Glue Guy of the Day

🏀 There Will Be a Game Seven!

Glue Guy OTD: The Indiana Pacers

Enough can’t be said about this city, this team, these players. Despite making it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year, they were an after thought in terms of teams who were favored to make a deep postseason run this year.

Even after the conclusion of the regular season, they still were talked about after 7 others teams!

Against. all odds. Truly every single one. They have now forced a Game Seven in the NBA Finals against the consensus beat team in the league! How did they do it? Through GLUE!

I know this may seem cliche by us, but I watched that entire game last night, and as long as you’re not a Thunder fan, I don’t know how you watch TJ McConnell and not fall in love with the passion he brings to the game. What he does is just different from everybody else. He was a few assists shy of a TRIPLE DOUBLE last night….OFF THE BENCH!

None of these guys get the praise they deserve. Siakam, Nesmith, Nembhard.

Toppin, Turner, Mathurin, Sheppard.

And their most overrated player as well.

Last night after a slow first couple minutes, they absolutely blew the roof off of Gainbridge Fieldhouse. It was an onslaught for 48 minutes. The lead at one point ballooned up to 30. Pacers def. Thunder, 108-91 (Series tied 3-3).

We now move to the two greatest words in sports! Game Seven!

The Indiana Pacers. However this ends up. GLUE!

Yesterday’s Moments

⛳️ After Last Week, The Travelers is Refreshing

The Stump Short Story: If you slept under a rock last week and happened to miss the US Open, you also missed the fact that only one person finished under par: winner JJ Spaun at -1. So, when players arrived to TPC Cromwell, I’m sure there were some demons that the players on tour were looking to exercise. And exercise those demons, they did. 50 players finished even par or better, including the top 15 at -4 or better. Scottie Scheffler and Austin Eckroat were dialed in and scored a 62, which equates to 8-under par at the par 70 course and is good enough for a tie for first. The scoring should continue as we head into another warm and dry day in Connecticut.

Why it Matters: While we all love some good ol’ ugly golf on the PGA Tour, I can’t lie, I love when these guys are scoring low. If I wanted to watch some bad golf, I’d watch myself out there. It’s must-see television when guys like Scottie are dialed in, it’s incredibly impressive. And the names at the top of this leaderboard make it even more fun. Scottie. Wyndham. Rory. Keegan. Jason Day. Tommy Fleetwood. Victor Hovland. Tom Kim. Justin Thomas. Colin Morikawa. LETS. GO.

⚽️ Historic Win for Inter Miami

The Stump Short Story: In the world of Soccer or Futbol, the eastern hemisphere dominates the western hemisphere. That’s just how it goes. It’s pretty simple and universally understood. But not yesterday, not with Messi playing in America. Lionel ripped a second half free kick into the back of the net to put Inter Miami over two-time European Champion FC Porto. That would be the last goal scored of the match. It was a phenomenal win for Miami in the FIFA Club World Cup group stage and almost ensures that they will advance into the knockout stage.

Why it Matters: This is the first time that a Copa American club team (eastern hemisphere) has defeated a European club in any sort of FIFA club tournament. So it goes without saying that yesterday was a big deal. With players like Messi heading to the Americas, even if it is in the twilight of his career, it helps bring high quality soccer to this side of the world and provide some serious competition. It only helps grow the game.
