I don’t know what to believe this NFL season. Every time we think one thing, the entire league gets flipped on its head. If the 2-win Giants beat the 10-win Patriots tonight, don’t be shocked. In a season with so much change, so many new faces at the top…could there be a chance….

That the more things change, the more they stay the same!

According to Google’s AI overview, the word “Pandemonium” can be defined as wild uproar, chaos, and confusion. I can’t think of a better word to describe the NFL right now because it’s Wild. It’s Chaotic. And I’m sure as hell Confused!

Before tonight’s Monday Night Game between the Patriots and the Giants, the standings on each side go as follows…

AFC -

I know it may seem ridiculous to show 12 teams here, but I genuinely do not think anything can be called ridiculous the way this season is going right now. Every week, we seem to have some clarity. The sports heads on TV tell us who the favorites are. Who’s alive. Who’s in trouble.

And then every Sunday the league tells us all that we can take those predictions and shove them where the sun don’t shine.

The recently week AFC South has three 7-win teams. The AFC West has two playoff teams, and neither is Kansas City. The AFC East has a 10-win juggernaut, and it isn’t the Bills. And then the dominant AFC North, which sometimes has three playoff teams, is the weakest in the conference. A 4-8 team could absolutely come back and win that division.

Every single division has uproar. Who comes out of the AFC? The Patriots or Broncos? I could see that. What about the Ravens or Bills? I could also see that.

What about the 4-8 freakin Bengals? Call me loony but they could rattle off 5 more wins and win their division!

Alright. Let’s take a deep breath and move on to the NFL. That has to be calmer, right…

NFC -

Yes, way more calm over here. Who’s the 1-seed? The Eagles? The Lions?

I’m sorry…DOES THAT SAY THE CHICAGO BEARS???

My god. Ben Johnson has the boys humming in Chicago. I’ll tell you what, I’m all aboard the hype train because some days I’ll find myself walking on the streets yelling “GOOD BETTER BEST".

There’s so much to unpack here. Just when we thought we had clarity that the Rams were the runaway favorite, Stafford had 3 turnovers, and they lost to Carolina, who is also an easy team to root for!

The Cowboys are on fire, and the Eagles are on ice.

The Seahawks continue to win, but Darnold questions will surround them until a playoff win (is that fair?).

The Lions have been punched in the mouth a few times this season, and got a dose of their own medicine on Thanksgiving against the Packers.

The Bucs just got their Bucky back, and possibly their swagger as well.

But amongst it all. In the middle of all of the chaos. By the skin of their teeth lies the team is in at 9-4. A team I haven’t really heard anything about all year, but they keep on winning. The Niners are a team I have my eyeballs on.

After last year’s chaos, all ending in an Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl, I told myself that I wouldn’t get tricked again. I told myself that no matter what I thought would happen, no matter how many “cool storylines” there were, we would always revert to a familiar place. Back to the doom and gloom of a Chiefs-Eagles or Chiefs-Niners Super Bowl.

I so badly want to believe it to be true that we will get something different this year, but I’m not ready to fully buy into that. I’ve been tricked before. The Chiefs now have two home games against the Texans and the Chargers.

In some weird way, if they win both of those games, the Niners will probably end up in the Super Bowl.
