⚽ While we are in the middle of the NFL season, it’s only right that we talk about fútbol! On this day in 2011, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th goal for Real Madrid in his 105th game for the club!

Every professional sports league seems to have a few sets of brothers who happen to play in the league at the same time. Well the Minasian brothers aren’t playing, but they’re calling the shots.

Yesterday afternoon the San Francisco Giants promoted Zack Minasian to General Manager, making him the second Minasian to hold the same position in the state of California. His brother, Perry, has been the General Manager of the Los Angeles Angels since November of 2020.

Zack has been the Giants’ vice president of professional scouting since 2020 after spending 14 years with the Milwaukee Brewers. Promoting Minasian was the first move of the new President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey’s tenure.

Brother, Perry, is the architect of the current rebuild in Los Angeles. This includes the contract negotiation for new World Series champion Shohei Ohtani.

The two are obviously limited in what they can talk about when it relates to baseball, not only because of league rules but also for competitive advantage reasons. Both admitted that their conversations are mostly about their children, families, and maybe a little bit of baseball. Yanno, the important things in life.

While it’s not as rare to hear about brothers playing in professional sports, it’s much more rare to hear about brothers leading two professional baseball franchises. It’ll be an interesting series when LA plays San Fran.

🏈 The stage is set. Buckeyes. Nittany Lions. Into the whiteout in PA. It’s a rivalry that goes back generations. The biggest BIG10 rivalry not named Michigan vs Ohio State. I love the fact that this is a noon kickoff. Start my college football day off with some ELECTRICITY. Penn State starting QB Drew Allar had missed the second half of last week’s game with a leg injury, but all signs point to him being a go for this one. After the loss to Oregon, OSU needs this one bad. Penn State needs to prove that they are for real. All eyes will be on Happy Valley today.

🏀 The Cleveland Cavs are the hottest team in the NBA. Yep, you read that right. The Cavs had another blowout win last night in their home victory over the Orlando Magic, a game where they led by double digits from the late first quarter on. Led by Darius Garland with 25 points, Donny Mitchell with 22, and a host of other scorers, the Cavs were able to dominate a Paolo Banchero-less Magic team. The Cavs go to Milwaukee today and look to continue their hot start.

⚽Man oh man, is Neymar going to join Messi in Miami? Well, it’s not out of the question, but some things need to change for it to happen. Neymar has been linked to Inter Miami since the club signed a host of his former Barcelona teammates. His contract in the Saudi league is up in 2025, but given current salary restrictions in the MLS, it seems unlikely that Inter will be able to bring in the Brazilian star. Hopefully, this one fixes itself, cause I’d LOVE to see Neymar in pink and black.

🏈 SEC commissioner Greg Sankey sent a memo out to league athletic directors and head football coaches relating to players faking injuries in games. The memo outlined potential punishments, including head coach public reprimands, fines, and potentially even suspensions. Any staff member found to be involved in the communication of a fake injury will be subject to the same measures. Commish Sankey laying down the law!
