🏟️ Fenway Park Opens

One of the most historic parks in all of Major League Baseball sits right in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. It’s hard to imagine the city without it, as the park has now been open for more than 100 years.

On this day in 1912, Fenway Park officially opened it’s doors as the Red Sox beat the visiting New York Highlanders 7-6 in 11 innings. It is the oldest stadium in the MLB.

🏀 NBA Playoffs Have Arrived

The NBA Playoffs are finally here…and I think this could be one of the most exciting postseasons in the last 10 years! Yeah, went out and said it! Here’s why…

It all starts in the West. With the Grizzlies yesterday getting the win and advancing to play the OKC Thunder, I think it can easily be said that we have FOUR very very exciting matchups to look out for. Ja vs SGA will be must see TV. ANTMAN and the T’Wolves facing off against Luka and LeBron, that will be MUST SEE TV. One of the hottest teams right now from the eye test is the Golden State Warriors, and they will face off against the #2 Seed Rockets, who are on major STUMPSET alert!

All of this and we haven’t even said what people are saying will be the closest matchup. The Nuggets and the Clippers. The Warriors may be the hottest team according to the eye test, but just based off of pure numbers, the Clippers ended the season 18-3! Kawhi and Harden are playing at peak form and they are out for blood. Who stands in there way? The 3-time MVP! This one could go 7!

Usually there is a series or two that will be a snoozefest. Out of these 4, calling any of them snoozers would be absolutely crazy! Must see TV, all day!

Now the East. Slightly less drama here, but still some fun storylines. The Heat now become the first 10-seed to make it from the Play-In, they will face off against the #1 Seed Cavs. The Cavs are heavy favorites, along with the Celtics who will go up against the Magic. Despite these heavy favorites, each of these lower seeded teams have studs who could single handedly win their franchise a game. The Knicks will host the Pistons, who have had one the greatest one-year turnarounds in recent memory. The Pistons have no clue what they don’t even know! And that’s dangerous! The last of the 8 series is Pacers-Bucks. Giannis was arguably the best player in the NBA the last month of the season. The former champ is not one to be taken lightly.

Storylines. Storylines. Storylines.

There’s a lot to look forward to. It’s time for the action!

The Hot Stove

🏀 Play-In Done, Bracket Cemented

Another year of the NBA Play-In Tournament has once again come to it’s conclusion after last nights action.

Heat def. Hawks, 123-114: The Heat earned a date with the Cleveland Cavs after their OT win against Atlanta. This one looked like a snooze-fest early, but the Hawks clawed back from a 17-point deficit to force overtime on a Trae Young game-tying layup with just about one second left in regulation. It was all Davion Mitchell for the Heat late, who pretty much willed this squad into the next round. To be perfectly honest, this Heat team looked like the best of the bunch in the Eastern Conference Play-In squads and deserved a shot.

Memphis def. Dallas, 120-106: Just like the other game looked like it would be a snooze-fest, this one actually WAS a snooze-fest. The Grizzlies put on a show in front of their home crowd to punch a ticket into the first round of the NBA Playoffs as the eight seed that’ll take on the Thunder. As for the Mavericks, who knows what their offseason is going to look like. With AD sitting most of the 4th quarter, Kyrie out till at least 2026, and Luka frolicking around LA with LeBron, the possibilities are endless on where this franchise goes.

⚾️ Cubs Give Up 10 Runs in 8th, Still Win

The 8th inning between the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks was absolute madness yesterday at Wrigley Field. The Diamondbacks headed into the 8th inning down 6 runs, but managed to put up 10 runs in the top of the inning. For Cubs fans, their disappointment was extremely short lived. Kyle Tucker and the Cubs stormed back in the bottom half of the inning by putting up 6 runs to take a 13-11 lead.

The 21 runs scored after the 6th inning is the most in MLB history scored after that many innings into the game, with the Cubs scoring 11 and the Diamondbacks scoring 10. Arizona became just the third team over the past 50 seasons to lose a game in which it had a 10-run innings at any point in the ball game. An absolute heartbreaker for Arizona after they crawled all the way back, but a gutsy performance for Chicago with their backs against the wall.

🚂 Flip-Flop for “Former” Purdue QB

Former Purdue QB Ryan Browne has rethought his decision to be a “former” Purdue QB. What the hell does this mean? Well, Browne left the program this past season and entered the portal, only to commit to North Carolina and Bill Belichick. After one spring in Chapel Hill, Browne re-entered the transfer portal and decided to head back to West Lafayette and become a Purdue Boilermaker. A starter in two games last season, Browne entered the portal on Wednesday and then not much later the same day, committed to return to Purdue. It’s pretty odd for this to happen, but not unheard of. Honestly, I’m surprised Purdue took him back, they must not have been thrilled with what they saw from their own QBs this past spring.
