On This Day…

🏈 Cowher becomes a Steeler.

On this day in 1992, Bill Cowher became the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cowher was 161-99-1 in his 15 years as head coach for the Gold and Black, winning the Super Bowl in 2006.

What’s even more crazy about this is that Cowher is only the third person to be the head coach of the team since 1970! In 54 years, only Cowher, Chuck Noll, and Mike Tomlin have had the honor of being the head man for the franchise.

Today’s Stump Story…

🏈 🏆️ Ohio State Survives Late Irish Surge to Win National Championship!

This game looked OVER early! But then it wasn’t…but then it was! It was a lot, we’ll give you the skinny of it right now!

This Ryan Day-led Ohio State team has finally gotten over the hump! With their 34-23 win over Notre Dame last night in the National Championship, they are now the top dawgs in college football!

After a long, sustained drive to start the game by Notre Dame, which ended with a Riley Leonard scamper for a TD, it looked like we could be in for a dogfight! Unfortunately for the Irish, it was anything but for the next 3 quarters. Notre Dame scored 31 unanswered points, 3 of those TDs coming from RB Quinshon Judkins! It was 31-7 and the game looked over.

If you’ve watched this Irish team though, it wasn’t surprising to see some fight. They waited to use all of their magic until late in the third quarter. Riley Leonard threw 2 30 yard TDs to Jaden Greathouse, with 2 SUCCESSFUL 2-point conversions, and suddenly, it was an 8-point game. Notre Dame’s defense had to make a stand late into the fourth quarter, and they couldn’t. Will Howard threw a GUTSY bomb to Jeremiah Smith on 3rd & 11 with 3 minutes to go in the game, and that was all she wrote!

Here’s a conversation that I’m sure will be floating around today. The biggest fan in the world of the 12-team playoff has to be Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day. Not only would Ohio State not have made the Playoff last year, but there is a strong chance that he could have gotten fired at the end of their regular season after a brutal loss to Michigan! The only way for redemption was winning a National Championship, and that is exactly what his team did!

The Buckeyes are now the King of the Jungle, and the countdown for the 2025 CFB Season begins!

Quick Hitters

🏀 2022 NBA Finals Rematch! We’ve come a long way since the 2022 NBA Finals. It was a rematch of Boston and Golden State last night. It’s been a tale of two franchises since that NBA Finals. Golden State has never been the same since that win, and Boston has begun their chase of a dynasty. Although just a singular game, last night’s 125-85 bloodbath was a symbol of this! Boston is an absolute wagon! This was the worst Warriors loss in the last 40 years. It was a group effort by Jayson Tatum (22), Jaylen Brown (17), Kristaps Porzingis (18), and Payton Pritchard (14)!

🐻 Chicago gets their guy to lead the franchise. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has agreed to a deal to become the next man in charge of Chicago’s historic franchise. Johnson, 38, spent the last three seasons as the coordinator for one of the most impressive franchise turnarounds in NFL history. Now, Johnson will be charged with turning around the Bears, one of the worst franchises in recent years. He will surely face a lot of pressure to help guide former No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams to stardom.

🎾 If you’re reading this, go check the Djokovic vs Alcaraz Australian Open quarterfinals match. The two face off for an 8th time and I’d reckon the match is still going on. It started at 4:10 AM on the US’s eastern time zone and if you’re reading this early in the morning, you may be able to catch the end. What an epic matchup for a quarterfinal! Who’s taking it? The younging or the old WOLF?

He’s been the OTHER wide receiver bascially his who career, but leaves a national champion and with the most receptions in the history of Ohio State football.

A. True! The CFP changed to a four-team format in 2014, Ohio State won the inaugural playoff that year. This year, the format was changed to 12 teams, and Ohio State won again! Pretty neat!
