The flood gates were opened. The US Supreme Court struck down a federal law banning sports gambling in most US states.
Since then, sports betting and their attached paraphernalia (apps, sportsbooks, and media coverage) have become engrained in American professional sports culture.

Date TBD But Venue Set. Rupp Arena for Arkansas vs Kentucky
After 15 long seasons as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, this past offseason John Calipari left and became the head coach of conference rival Arkansas. He joined a team that had a roster of 1 singular player. He has built a team of transfers as well as a solid recruiting class and now has something to work with.
When the news broke of his departure and then his new signing, there were many different reactions. Some said that it was a long time coming after Kentucky’s recent woes in the NCAA Tournament.
In the past three years, Kentucky has lost in the first round to (15) Saint Peters in the First Round, lost to (3) Kansas State in the Second Round, and then most recently lost to (14) Oakland in the First Round.
So basically it’s been ugly. We all remember some of these games too. Jack Gohlke and his heroics just two months ago sent the Wildcats packing and Doug Edert did the same with the Peacock’s in 2022. We remember Kentucky games but sadly for Wildcat Nation, not for any good reason.
Whether there was a hex around the team or just the young players that simply got ‘out experienced’ in the tournament, it seemed like it was time for a change.
After Eric Eric Musselman left Arkansas for USC, and Calipari decided to become a Razorback, everybody was ready for the date to drop for that matchup. Well, the date isn’t out yet but we now know the venue. Arkansas will be heading to Kentucky’s Rupp Arena for a showdown.
Get your popcorn ready because that will be much-watch TV. You think he gets a Standing O or do the boo birds rain? He did bring them a championship after all. But that was in 2012.
Only time will tell.
