Today’s Trivia🧠

⚾️Aaron Judge is trying to become the third player with multiple 60-home run seasons in baseball history, who else has done it?

  • A. Sammy Sosa

  • B. Alex Rodriguez

  • C. Josh Hamilton

  • D. Babe Ruth

  • E. Barry Bonds

(answer at the bottom of the Stump!)

On This Day…

In 1885, Puritan (NY Yacht Club) beat Genesta (Royal Yacht Squadron, UK) in the 5th all-time America’s Cup. The sailing race is the oldest international competition still operating in ANY sport. That’s nuts.

Imagine being the UK. Lost a couple wars and then the America’s Cup in sailing. Just an absolutely brutal few blows for the boys from the UK. Glad to see that they’ve recovered nicely. Big fan of fish and chips.

What’s Worth Your Time

🏈NFL Round Up: The Big Stuff

  • Rodgers gets his first win as the Jets starting QB as New York hangs on to defeat the Tennessee Titans, 24-17, on the road in Nashville.

  • Browns and Deshaun Watson bounce back and get an ugly road win over the Jaguars, 18-13. Trevor and the Jags start 0-2 and need to get hot quickly to turn this season around.

  • Tampa and Baker Mayfield cook in Detroit with a big road win over the Lions, Bucs jump out to 2-0 start on the season and continue to impress the NFL.

  • Saints CLOBBER the Cowboys in Dallas and Alvin Kamara shines with 4 touchdowns for New Orleans. I’m not sure what’s in the water on the sidelines for the Saints this year but boy they are RED HOT!

  • MINSHEW MANIA! Raiders storm back to get huge road win over the Ravens in Baltimore. This one was a stunner but I always forget that Minshew is that dude!

⛳️While Nobody Was Watching, Jon Rahm Wins LIV Title

This past weekend the LIV Tour went to Chicago to tee it up for the last time on the season. Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann were the only two in the mix for the season points total prize of $18M and the accolade that comes with it.

I’m sure not many eyeballs were on Chicago this weekend when one of the best golfers in the world, Jon Rahm, won the individual season title in his first year with LIV golf. Rahm won the individual points total from the year but also won this past weekend to secure the points title.

Interestingly enough, the only person who could make a run and challenge Rahm for the season title, Niemann, was just two shots back entering the back nine on the final day. Rahm was able to hold him off and win by three strokes.

⚾️Joe Castiglione Hanging It Up In Boston

If you’ve never heard of Joe Castiglione, I can’t blame you. But if you grew up in New England or you grew up as a baseball fan, you’ve heard his voice. Even if you haven’t, it’s important to tell these stories, these people matter. He the voice of childhoods, lives, and memories.

Castiglione announced during yesterday’s Red Sox-Yankees game that it will be the last time he’s calling the rivalry for the Red Sox. Castiglione, who recently turned 77, joined the broadcast crew in Boston in 1983. For reference, that was the last year of Carl Yastrzemski’s career, his grandson plays in the MLB now.

Joe was on air when the Red Sox ender their 86-year title drought, and saw three more championships in 2007, 2013, and 2018. He saw 42 seasons from the booth and tallied more than 6,500 games. He was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2014.

A legend whose name will live in Fenway Park forever, the Red Sox renamed the home radio booth after him in 2022.

🏈Chiefs Are Gonna Chief…

The boys from Kansas City always seem to find a way, no matter what. It’s pretty painful for everyone else, but must be a thing of pure beauty when you’re a Chiefs fan, you truly are never out of a game.

The Chiefs did it again last night. They won on a game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker. That script feels like it’s been written hundreds of times. Yesterday, it was a pass interference call on the Bengals that put the Chiefs in game-winning field position.

Chiefs had their back allllll the way against the wall, 4th & 16 with about 25 yards to go before they were in good field goal range. Of course, Mahomes rolls out and throws it up downfield, Rashee Rice gets interfered with. Game. Set. Match.

Bleh! Why are we surprised anymore? I felt for Joe Burrow when he slammed his helmet against the ground. Without some painful late penalties for Cincy, they would’ve gone on to probably win the game. Unfortunately, that’s not the way it goes when you’re playing Mahomes and the Chiefs.

🏈 Horns Up! Texas Ranked No. 1 in AP Poll!

A lot going on for the newest No. 1 in the AP Poll! Texas is now ranked No. 1 for the first time in 16 years! This comes after Georgia barely beat Kentucky and a 56-7 ass-kicking of UTSA yesterday for Texas despite losing their QB Quinn Ewers. Who went on the turf in the second quarter? None other than the prodigal nephew…Arch Manning!

As you would expect, Arch’s name has been on the frontlines ever since he picked up a pigskin. While at Texas, people have eagerly been waiting to see what the kid was made of, well, yesterday they got to see. He ended up going 9/12 for 223 yards, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs. He added 53 yards and a TD on the ground as well!

Reports now say that Ewers is week-to-week with an abdomen injury. We may get to see a whole lot of Arch. A lot of kudos to him for sticking with Texas, even though so many people were saying he needed to hit the portal. He seems like he is going to be the guy for the next few weeks for the No. 1 team in the country.

Yesterday, but the Good Stuff❗️❗️

🎙️Song OTD🎙️

Can’t Stop the Feeling

Justin Timberlake

HIGHHHHH vibes for this Monday morning. Who knew this song was from Trolls? Not me. Sounds like Trolls must be a fire movie. Maybe as a group we should watch. Maybe? Maybe.

🗣️ Quote OTD🗣️

“Don’t take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from.”

Jim Kwik

This one was made popular in the sports world by Aaron Rodgers, but I think it applies even more to the everyday person. Don’t let those who you wouldn’t even ask for advice from bother you, in one ear out the other!

❗️Glue Guy OTD❗️

Cough Drop

Sickness Deterrent

Now here’s a guy who really knows his role. The glue guy of the allergy or sickness fight. Knows why he’s there and is always going to bring his A game. Elite.

Trivia Answer:

A. Sammy Sosa! Sosa hit 66 homers in 1998 and 64 in 2001. Mark McGwire is the other to do it, he hit 70 in 1998 and 65 in 1999. Judge looks to become the third to do it more than once!
