Savvy Investors Know Where to Get Their News—Do You?

Here’s the truth: there is no magic formula when it comes to building wealth.

Much of the mainstream financial media is designed to drive traffic, not good decision-making. Whether it’s disingenuous headlines or relentless scare tactics used to generate clicks, modern business news was not built to serve individual investors.

Luckily, we have The Daily Upside. Created by Wall Street insiders and bankers, this fresh, insightful newsletter delivers valuable insights that go beyond the headlines.

On This Day…

🏈 We’re talking James Wilder today! Wilder was the Bucs RB throughout the entirety of the 1980s! In his career, he rushed for 6,000 yards and 37 TDs. He tacked on 3,500 receiving yards as well.

It was on this day when he rushed for 219 yards in a single game against the Minnesota Vikings!

🏈 NFL Trade Deadline Moves

Was there something important going on yesterday? Feels like there was something I had to do but I just can’t recall… I do know that the NFL Trade Deadline was going on, so let’s just recap that.

Zadarius Smith heads north from Cleveland to Detroit: The Lions got the pass rusher they so desperately needed since the season-ending injury of Aidan Hutchinson. Smith is a veteran who has been productive everywhere he goes, and now has the chance to compete for a Super Bowl in Detroit. What a day for him, woke up a Brown, and went to sleep as a Lion. The come-up is real.

Bengals add another RB: Khalil Herbert is no doubt talented, but found himself as the odd man out in a pretty loaded backfield in Chicago behind DeAndre Swift and Roschan Johnson. He now joins a Bengals team trying to save their season one week at a time, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him contribute early, especially because of the lack of production and the recent long-term injury of Zack Moss.

Pittsburgh, and Russ, Get A Weapon: It was no secret that the Mike Williams era in New York as a Jet was going to be short lived after the addition of long time Rodgers teammate Devontae Adams. Williams, who is in his first year not playing with the Chargers, will now put on the black and gold. Wilson gets himself another big bodied target to go along with the likes of George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth.

Washington Makes a Big Move: The Commanders have shocked the NFL world this season as they have came out as one of the most fun to watch teams in the NFL. Despite all their success, it was obvious they needed a cornerback. In steps Marshon Lattimore. The former All-Pro selection has been a shut down corner since the day he arrived in the NFL. Lattimore brings CB1 talent and a mentality that the Commanders will love.

Ravens Get Better on Defense: Much like the Commanders, it was obvious that the Ravens desperately needed a cornerback. Injuries and underperformance have led to teams being able to throw down the field and match the scoring of the Ravens offense. The Ravens went out and got Tre’Davious White. White was one of the best corners in the league during his time in Buffalo with the Bills, but spent the last few years of his tenure there playing through injuries. White has played sparingly this season, appearing in four games with the Rams, but should provide some great depth in Baltimore.

🏈 CFP Rankings Released! The first released rankings of the College Football Playoff just came out, and here’s how it looked.. 1. Oregon, 2. Ohio State, 3. Georgia, 4. Miami, 5. Texas, 6. Penn State, 7. Tennessee, 8. Indiana, 9. BYU, 10. Notre Dame, 11. Alabama, 12. Boise State - Not too many shockers here, but a good look at where everybody stands with just a few weeks to go in the season.

🏀 The NBA has suspended Joel Embiid 3 games! This is for an altercation he had with a reporter following Saturday’s loss to the Grizzlies. In this, he shoved this reporter. A reporter who had written a column that included comments about Embiid’s son and brother who passed away. Some things you just keep out of columns!

🏀 NBA Injury Bug: Denver Nuggets starter Aaron Gordon to miss multiple weeks with a calf strain. Spurs’ Jeremy Sochan to have surgery on his fractured left thumb. Hornets center Nick Richards expected to miss at least two weeks after being diagnosed with a right rib cartilage fracture. And no surprise here, Anthony Davis aggravates a foot injury in the Lakers road loss last night.

We can still report on baseball right? Now World Series CHAMP, Shohei Ohtani, just had surgery on his shoulder which he injured during the World Series. The news out of LA is that he will be ready for Spring Training!

This one really speaks for itself, but without this guy, good luck getting sleep on the flight. You’re in a tough spot without this cat.

Trivia Answer:

A. Adrian Peterson! Good ole AP! He holds the record at 296 yards, which he got in 2007 against the San Diego Chargers! The crazy thing about this record is that it is just ONE single yard more than Jamal Lewis who ran for 295 in 2003!
