The Aussie Cameron Smith won the 150th British Open on the PGA Tour! This was his first major title! What a place to do it.

He chased down some of the greats and went a NUTSO -6 in the final 9 holes to take home the title!

Hasn’t ‘Come Home’ Yet But It’s Close: Gareth Southgate

After two straight EURO Finals appearances, Gareth Southgate steps away as England’s National Team Head Coach!

Gareth Southgate has officially walked away from his role as England’s National Team Head Coach. Im a time when it seems to be rare that coaches walk away from a situation better than they found it, we have that case here.

In 2016 when Southgate was given the keys to the castle, he was quickly labeled as inexperienced, and not the man for the job. It was a herculean task he was asked to do. He was given a team which lost to Iceland in the round of 16 in EURO 2016. And a team that not only did not make it out of the group stage but finished LAST in their group in the 2014 World Cup. For a country in which soccer means a lot, Southgate’s head was being called for approximately 15 minutes after he accepted the job.

At the time Englands U21 (Under 21) team seemed to have a lot of promise with the likes of Harry Kane, John Stones, and Jordan Pickford. Southgate knew that there was some juice.

Looking back to when Southgate was hired he was brought in as more of a transition coach. The team was bad, they were hoping to soon be good, and they needed a man who could rally the troops.

Well that’s exactly what he did. England has made back to back EURO Finals, and the World Cup semifinals in 2018 and quarterfinals in 2022. Are any of these wins? No they are not. But is England in a better spot than where they were when Southgate was hired? They absolutely are.

In a world where championships have become almost the only way to measure success. It’s almost commendable to see Southgate not get sacked but rather leave in his own accord now that he thinks they are in a new era of their team.

The Cup still hasn’t come home. But man is it close!
