The second round of the NBA Playoffs is fully underway. The Knicks get a narrow win over the Pacers in what could be a long series, and the Wolves roll over the Nugs in what could be a much shorter one. In the NHL, the Bruins got an upset win over the Panthers. You may think that’s it, but there’s so much more!

LETS. GET. INTO. IT.

THE DAILY STUMPED🔮

The New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers is a historic rivalry. From 1993-95 they met three straight years in the playoffs, how many went to a Game 7?

  • A. None

  • B. One

  • C. Two

  • D. Three

  • E. Four! This one would be weird!

Answer at the bottom of The Stump!

ON THIS DAY 🗓

On this day in 2022…

Rich Strike wins the Kentucky Derby with an absolutely furious run up the last straightaway. The call on the television is something out of a movie!

Rich Strike became the second longest odds to ever win the Kentucky Derby at 80-1 odds. Rich Strike was not even supposed to be in the race until another horse got injured. He had the lowest odds of all TWENTY horses in the race to win. LEGEND!

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY

The Timberwolves. Are. For Real.

Fresh after watching Game 2 of the Nuggets-T’Wolves series and what a beatdown it’s been early. Last night the game ended with a 26-point win (106-80) for Minnesota. Early in the day it came out the Rudy Gobert would miss the game to be with his family during the birth of his son. He stayed back in Minnesota but it seems he gave his Defensive Player of the Year awards to his teammates because it was an absolute clinic.

7 different Timberwolves got in the steal column last night and it seemed like it could’ve been more. Role players like Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jaden McDaniels, Kyle Anderson, and vet Mike Conley all showed up in a big way. They may not have filled the stat sheet, but their presence on both ends of the floor was apparent early and often.

Stump Hero Naz Reid is still an absolute walking bucket (how bout the Stump being on him months ago. it was always Naz Reid). He has had two back-to-back phenomenal performances.

All this about the Wolves and we haven’t mentioned KAT and ANT. 27 a piece for the two of them and they had the Nuggets in fits all night.

On the Nuggets side of things, they just have to show a little more grit than they have these past two games. Too much complaining, taking bad shots, and stupid fouls. If they want a chance to have this series come back to Denver they just have to be a little smarter and remember who they are.

That being said, the Timberwolves look like the most impressive team in basketball and it isn’t fairly close.

On this May 7th I would just like to put this out into the universe. Could this be a case of recency bias, it absolutely could. Am I going to say it anyway, I absolutely am. The Timberwolves are going to win the NBA Finals this year. They don’t know what they don’t know. And those types of teams are dangerous.

🗣Quote of the Day

“Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.”

Warren Buffett

Sometimes I forget this guy is a real person. He almost feels like a figment of the worlds imagination. Stupid money, stupid, stupid, STUPID. But this quote is not stupid. In fact, it’s actually smart! This guy gets it. The things you do today will plant seeds for the future. You will see the fruits of your labor!

Glue Guy of the Day

Josh Hart - New York Knicks

I mean, this might be the easiest glue guy we’ve ever done. Brunson is great, don’t get me wrong, but god this dude is the PULSE of the Knicks. He does EVERYTHING for this team. Menace on the boards, gremlin on defense, and the goat of clutch minutes. Great podcast too!

DAILY STUMPED ANSWER

C. Two! The last of the two went to a thrilling Game 7 where they split victories! Are we in for another 7 game classic this season?
