On July 20th, MIKE TYSON is back in the Ring! 🥊
Not since an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in November of 2020 has Mike Tyson gotten into the ring. I mean I don’t blame him the guy is 57 years old. If you’ve gotten to see any of his short workout videos that go viral every so often he’s still got some juice in the tank. When he walks up to punching bags they still shake with fear.
On July 20th we get to see Mike back in the ring for his first fight in 4 years and his first pro fight in 19 YEARS!
The night Tyson fought Jones in 2020, one of the undercard matches happened to feature his opponent come this summer, Jake Paul. On that night Paul knocked out former NBA hops-king Nate Robinson. This was a fight that caused a full pivot from Paul from a YouTube influencer to a fighter. Paul is now 9-1 which includes wins over former UFC stars Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley. So he does have more boxing wins against UFC guys instead of boxers, but nevertheless he has still shown he can throw some punches.
Vegas just released their odds on the fight and Tyson is a +150 underdog in the bout. This does make some sense as he is a full 30 years older than his opponent, but man something about Mike Tyson as an underdog just doesn’t feel right.
For a guy who had his first fight in 1985, maybe Vegas thinks he doesn’t have another bout in the tank, which is fair…but he’s Mike Tyson. That first fight by the way, a first-round TKO against Hector Mercedes as an 18-year-old. That was well before Jake Paul was even born.
I don’t know much, but I do know I can’t wait for July 20th to see what kind of fight we get between Tyson and Paul. Usually, these are chalk for a hug-fest, but something seems different about this one, but only time will tell!
