There’s old baseball records and then there’s OLD baseball records. We got two of them today to get you started on this Friday morning…

On this day in 1890, Brooklyn Bridegrooms’ (later Dodgers) first baseball Dave Foultz hits the first ever home run for the franchise. Brooklyn defeated the Chicago Colts at Washington Park in New York.

On this day in 1894, the Boston Beaneaters (later Red Sox) second basemen Bobby Lower is first to hit 4 homers in an MLB game in their 20-11 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

Eastern Conference Finals

🏀 Knicks Stay Alive at Home!

There will be a Game 6! It will be a tough one, but the show goes on!

After going down 0-2 in the series, this thing could’ve ended quickly for New York, but now they get their second win of the series and they are one road win away from forcing a Game 7, where anything can happen!

Last night was a massive step in the right direction, and it was everybody who was contributing. Thibs again utilized his bench, going 10 deep before garbage time! Everybody who went in played a massive role as well. Delon Wright and Landry Shamet continue to play great defense, and when the bigs were in foul trouble they were even able to rely on Precious Achiuwa who came in and had an immediate impact play as well!

No matter what happens in this series, no doubt the turning point to this point was whent Thibs started to go past his main 7. The Pacers seem to be playing a new guy every single night, and the Knicks are now fighting fire with fire.

Jalen Brunson had 14 points in the first quarter and then tacked on another 15 in the third! He ended with a game-high 32 and did the Knicks needed their leader to do. KAT again was aggressive and ended with a strong 24 and 13. His aggressiveness in this series has been unbelievable, but his lack of effort on the defensive side is not fun to watch. I want this Knicks team to force a game 7, but man if shots aren’t going down for KAT, his body language gets bad fast.

Coming off of maybe the game of his career, Tyrese Haliburton ended with 8 points and 6 assists. The one positive to take from this is that is seems that Benedict Mathurin has awoken from his hibernation. This was his second straight 20-point game, and something that the Pacers could use some more to close out this series.

Game 6 will be tomorrow in Indiana, and you can be sure that the home team will come out firing! Big game ahead!

But last night it was the Knicks!

🏒 Oilers Set Up REMATCH!

One year later, we return to a matchup that went 7 games in the Stanley Cup Finals last year! The Oilers got the win, and they will now see the Panthers again in a championship showdown!

With the game in Dallas, the home crowd was hoping for a better start from the fellas than what they got! The Oilers came out goal-hunting EARLY! 10 minutes into the game the Stars found themselves down 3-0. After 2 of those Dallas did a goalie switch, going from Jake Oettinger to Casey DeSmith. Sadly it didn’t fare that much better for DeSmith.

The Oilers ended with 6 goals from 6 different guys, and 6 more guys found themselves in the assist column. Just an all around effort from Edmonton, something they will need to carry on when they face off against the Panthers in Game 1!

🏈 Phins Moving on from Jonnu?

Rumors started swirling late afternoon yesterday regarding a potential trade in the NFL. Apparently the Dolphins are in deep trade talks to move their Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Dolphins have been pretty active all off-season when it comes to trade talks, but this is the first time we’ve heard the name Jonnu Smith involved. Last years lone Pro Bowler for the team, Smith expressed interest in re-working his contract to give him some more money. So far, there’s been no discussion about that. The Steelers’ interest in Jonnu is not surprising due to his relationship with Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who has coached Jonnu with two different organizations. When Arthur was with Tennessee as their OC, Jonnu splashed onto the scene in his offense. A few years late when Arthur was the head man in Atlanta, he traded for Jonnu. Looks like the two are hoping to reunite once more in the black and yellow.

🏒 Ugly Email Mistake by Caps

It takes an army to run a professional sports franchise, but when one makes a mistake, it looks bad for the whole crew.

Yesterday, the Capitals sent out an email to their season-ticket holders prompting them to buy tickets for Alex Ovechkin’s last season. Only one problem, Ovechkin gas never said next season is going to be his last. The team released a statement following the social media explosion, saying that no decision has been made on his future in the NHL. The team on social media said the email was mistakenly sent by someone in the corporate sales department. I mean, seems like a pretty harmless mistake, but it’s pretty embarrassing for the franchise. Especially when it involves the leading goal scorer in NHL history.
