When the going gets tough, the tough get going. And who’s as tough as Jalen Brunson. That’s a guy who just is an absolute bucket-getter in crunch time! On This Day…

🏆️ Long Shots Win the Premier League

You’ve heard of underdogs, but 5,000-1 odds winning? That’s almost unheard of. But it was true, and my god, was it beautiful.

On this day in 2016, Leicester City FC was named the Premier League Champions, their first in the 111 years of the club. It’s often described as one of the greatest sporting stories of all time. Leicester didn’t just win the league, they won big. When the standings closed, Leicester sat 10 points above second place Arsenal.

Brunson, Crunchtime, INEVITABLE!

🔥 Knicks Survive and Advance, Clippers Force a GAME 7!

We were absolutely treated to a great double-header last night on TNT. Here’s what to know.

Knicks def. Pistons, 116-113 (NYK Win Series 4-2): Un. Be. Lievable. This game was up, down, left, and right. The Knicks were leading, and then the Pistons came back from down 15 to take the lead late in the fourth, and then they brought that lead up to 7 with 2 and a half to go! Surely they would win that one right?

The boys in blue had something to say about that one. This may have been a blown lead late, but it still didn’t feel like a collapse. It felt like the Knicks just made some incredibly tough shots. Who else but Jalen Brunson. This past seasons “Clutch Player” Of The Year! This three which had Ausar Thompson on skates was unbelieavable with three seconds left on the clock. What a game, what a series. The Knicks will now face off against the Boston Celtics in what will no doubt be an unbelievable series! Let’s go!

Clippers def. Nuggets, 111-105 (Series tied 3-3): The two greatest words in sports…GAME SEVEN! Man, was there any other way this series could end. It had to go to seven. The Clippers came to play last night, they scratched, they clawed, and they got the win behind some big contributions from their big four. Kaehi, Harden, Powell, and Zubac! BIG!

We are going back to Denver for a Game Seven! Buckle up, because that one will be absolutely nuts!

The Hot Stove

🏀 Is it Luka’s Weight Again?

Remember when everyone clowned the Mavericks organization for trading Luka Doncic because of his work ethic and weight problems? Yeah, well, JJ Redick may be singing the same tune now for the Lakers.

I’ll just start with the quote from Lakers head coach JJ Redick, then you can decide for yourself: “I’ll start with the offseason and the work that’s required in an offseason to be in championship shape… And certainly, there are individuals that were in phenomenal shape. There’s certainly other ones that could have been in better shape. That’s where my mind goes immediately is we have to get in championship shape.” Yeesh. I know he wasn’t talking about LeBron James in that comment, that’s for sure. I don’t know what kind of shape Luka is in, I don’t. But it feels like it’s a recurring problem now. Let’s see if this fuels the fire, and we get skinny Luka next season.

🔥 De Bruyne to Chicago?

The MLS continues to attract some of the best talent in the world, as conversations are starting to intensify surrounding Belgian superstar Kevin De Bruyne joining the Chicago Fire.

The 33-year-old has been with Man City since 2015, but he announced last month that he would leave at the end of the season upon his contract expiration. Interestingly enough, Inter Miami has his discovery rights (which basically means they have to say no before he can explore joining other MLS teams. Unfortunately for Inter Miami, they are already over the cap limit and cannot really afford him. Therefore, De Bruyne is free to look for another home. The Fire have seemed to be the group with the inside track to De Bruyne, as they can afford him as well as are in the market for an attacker. De Bruyne has not ruled out staying in Europe, but all signs are pointing out a trip to the United States.

🟡 Haliburton Drama Somehow Gets Juicier

Somehow, this Tyrese Haliburton Dad drama keeps getting more and more interesting. But it looks like it’s over, now.

After a post game altercation between Tyrese Haliburton’s father, John, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the NBA community has been on fire. The two got in each others face after John Haliburton rushed the court and was apparently talking crap following the Bucks elimination via the Pacers. After conversations with the Pacers’ front office, John Haliburton will not attend the team’s home and road games for the foreseeable future. Both the Haliburtons, John and Tyrese, have been on an apology campaign, which included a post to social media by the father and an interview on the Pat MacAfee Show by Tyrese. The Pacers will take on the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Semifinals starting this Sunday, but John will certainly watching from home.
