KAT To The Knicks!

Blockbuster NBA Trade, Momentum Shift in President Cup, Massive College Football Slate, and the Fail Mary 2.0! What a day!

Well if you sat here and told me that after Thursday that the President’s Cup would be tied heading into the weekend, I’d say you were smoking something serious. But here we are, tied going into the weekend. You combine that with an electric slate of Saturday College Football, the MLB final regular season series, and a crazy NBA trade, and now you really have something going. Welcome to today’s Stump.

Today’s Trivia🧠

🏈Texas is back! The Texas Longhorns are historically one of the best college football schools in country. Before being named #1 in the country a few weeks ago, when was the last time they held the #1 ranking?

  • A. 2022

  • B. 2004

  • C. 2008

  • D. 1995

  • E. 1985

(answer at the bottom of the Stump!)

On This Day…

🏈 Let’s talk about throwing around the pigskin today. On this day in 1969, Quarterback Joe Kapp threw for SEVEN touchdowns in a win against the Baltimore Colts. This feat has now been completed 7 times in NFL history.

The most recent was in 2015 and was done by Drew Brees. Before that, Nick Foles and Peyton Manning both did it in 2013. It’s been a while! Does this mean we’re due??? Andy Dalton is back, isn’t he🤔

What’s Worth Your Time

🏈College Football Gritfest of the Day

To be honest, there were a few to pick from this week. But I landed on one from Conference USA, two teams who desperately need a big win, and two teams who are looking for some serious momentum shifts.

Boys and girls, I’m excited to bring you down to Pitbull Stadium, the home of the Florida International University Panthers. At 6:00 PM ET, the Panthers welcome the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech University. The two open their conference schedule with each other, and both are desperate for an FBS win.

The FIU Panthers are coming off a BRUTAL loss to FCS Monmouth at home in a 45-42 gritfest. They are 1-3 on the year and defeated Central Michigan in week one. The biggest part of their offseason came when they renamed the stadium after music icon Pitbull, but we haven’t seen much to cheer about in the on-field product.

Louisiana Tech is 1-2, defeating FCS Nichols State in an ugly 25-17 game in the opening week of the season. LA Tech went on to lose to NC State on the road and let one slip away in OT last week against Tulsa. LA Tech has been historically a solid G5 program, so their fall from grace this year has been surprising.

I’m going with the Bulldogs on the roads this game, they’re leaving Pitbull Stadium with a win.
