On This Day…

⚽️ On this day in 1869, James Moore wins the world’s first BICYCLE ROAD RACE!

The race took place in St. Cloud, France, and was a 70 mile sprint. Moore complete the race in 10 hours and 25 minutes. Moore is widely regarded as the first star of cycling, as he dominated the sport for many years. The fact we even have a picture of this cat and his bike BLOWS my mind.

Yesterday we had a lot of action! Here are some of the big things from yesterday…

• (1) Oregon went to Wisconsin to face off against the Badgers. I know they beat Ohio State, but why does it still not feel right that the Ducks are #1 in the nation? They SQUEAKED by a gritty Wisconsin team last night, 16-13. They remain unbeaten and will stay at the top of the AP Poll!

• Kansas plays SPOILER! It was a trap game that many talked about! Unbeaten BYU went to Kansas to take on the Jayhawks in the nightcap last night! It was a low-scoring game, and it turned out to be a TD with 13 minutes left in the fourth that was the last score of the game! It was the Jayhawks who scored it, and the Jayhawks who got the win, 17-13!

• Georgia holds Tennessee SCORELESS in second half! Get the win, 31-17! A lot was said going into this SEC throwdown! Was Tennessee finally one of the top dogs of the conference? Nico Iamaleava was a little banged up coming into the game but regardless, they didn’t do enough to win! Dawgs win!

• (17) Colorado STOMPS on Utah, 49-24! Travis Hunter added to his Heisman case with another interception! He tacked on 55 receiving yards as well! The Buffs just seem to be having fun out there! THey didn’t play their best game at all and still were able to score 49 points!

• Ravens @ Steelers (1:00 PM): Sneaking this game into the 1:00 ET window is a blessing for football fans across the country. The slate is a little ugly other than this one. Can Lamar shake off his kryptonite, the Steelers? Will Russ be DANGERUSS?

• Seahawks @ 49ers (4:05 PM): The NFC West is still anybody’s division, and these two teams are right in the thick of it. Now that the Niners are getting healthy, can they get hot? Can the Seahawks play spoiler on the road?

• Chiefs @ Bills (4:25 PM): The obvious BARN BURNER on this football Sunday is the battle between the two AFC titans. The Chiefs take their perfect record to a hostile environment in Buffalo to face a red-hot Bills team.

🥊 Jon Jones IS STILLLLLLL UFC Heavyweight Champ with a third-round TKO over Stipe Miocic! Back-to-back days with news from the ring! Jones ended his 20-month hiatus with a championship defense with a vicious kick to the midsection! Jon Jones…the baddest man in the UFC!

💸 We haven’t been the only people who have seen the impressive season from Indiana football under first year head coach Curt Cignetti. Only 10 games into his 6-year, $27 million contract, Indiana has double down on their commitment, almost literally. Cignetti and Indiana reached a new contract yesterday, 8-years, $72 million. That almost DOUBLED his salary. He went from averaging $4.5 million a year to just over $8 million (he can only reach the full $72 million of he stays the length of the contract). Talk about putting your trust in a coach, shoutout the Hoosiers!

C. University of Louisiana Monroe! It’s been ELEVEN years since ULM has appeared in a bowl game, which is the longest drought in college football. The University of Massachusetts Amherst also has a drought of eleven years, so the two are tied, technically. ULM currently has 5 wins with two games left.
