STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍

WNBA Season is Underway, and it Looks to be Most Viewed Season Ever!
We’re going to start off with a quote from WNBA (and UConn) great Rebecca Lobo:
“The last time I can think of this much hype leading into a WNBA season was 1997 because it was the first one and people were eager to see what does professional women’s basketball look like? Now we have similar interest but for a variety of different reasons. What is this rookie class going to look like playing against the best players in the world?”
Obviously as one of the Founding Mothers’ of the WNBA she would say good things, but there’s truth to all of it. This past March the NCAA Women’s Tournament was the most watched in it’s history. We saw record numbers in each round ending with a viewership record for the National Championship with South Carolina defeating Iowa.
If you watched some of the late round matchups of the tournament you know how exciting it was. From Paige Bueckers and Juju Watkins, to Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, who are now both in the WNBA. The buzz around Clark in particular has garnered attention at an unparalleled level. Yes, Caitlin is great but now we will get to watch so many great WNBA players who don’t get enough love and recognition.
Last night Alyssa Clark of the Connecticut Sun just got her 9th career triple-double in a win against the Fever and Clark. She’s just one of the stars in the sport. There’s A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and many more.
I’ll tell you what when I was watching Fever-Sun last night the crunch time buckets that were made just showed how many good shooters are in the league. On top of that Connecticut sold out their home opener for the first time since their inaugural season in 2003!
Last night was just Day 1 but there’s a lot to be excited for in the world of women’s hoops!
They’ve got me hooked for the year! Expect a lot of it in The Stump!

“HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT DOGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!” These guys are VULTURES! The guy in this picture is ALL BUSINESS! Nothing screams ballpark than a guy bringing a dog to your seat. The art of getting one of these guys to your seat is a little tricky, but the masters are something to WATCH!
