What Caught Our Eye👀

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️

Jim Harbaugh With A Microphone

Sound bite after sound bite. You can’t tell if Jim is up there talking ball or doing his comedy routine. It’s fun to watch.

This past season was another installment of the ever changing coaching carousel in the NFL. We have a lot of new faces in charge of organizations and some old ones as well. One of the biggest splashes in the coaching world was Jim Harbaugh, who will be at the head of the table for the Los Angeles Chargers.

In yesterday’s post-practice press conference, Harbaugh had about 6 sound bites. Here’s how a few of them went:

“It’s just, the analogy of a rocket taking off, you know?”

A couple minutes into his press conference, Harbaugh might have felt like he hadn’t brought enough juice yet so he decided to make one of classic analogies comparing the beginning of training camp to a rocket ship taking off. He did this with hand motions (for effect) as well that made it’s way all around social media.

“The team got bigger and stronger!”

Yesterday Chargers safety Alohi Gilman was absent from practice due to the birth of his daughter. When asked about his absense, Harbaugh decided to talk some numbers. “Alohi and his wife had a baby…And the measureables are good. I mean, really close to 9 pounds. Got some length. Haven’t gotten a wingspan yet but hopefully we’ll get that today.” Say what you want about Harbaugh but the guy’s got jokes for days.

“I was playing quarterback.”

A reporter asked about Left Tackle Rashawn Slater, and how he looked to Harbaugh. Without skipping a beat Harbaugh said, “Good. I think. I mean I was playing QB during the drill, so I was conscious of getting hit. But did not, so good.”

There’s a lot to look forward to this NFL season, and one thing to add to that long list is Jim Harbaugh sound bites, because they’ve already begun!

Quote of the Day

“Falling in life is inevitable - staying down is optional”

Carrie Johnson

Continuing the Olympian theme, truer words have never been spoken, Carrie.

Song of the Day

Funkytown

Lipps Inc.

Gotta move on. Won’t you take me to Funkytown, baby?

Glue Guy of the Day

Defined: Glue Guy (Noun, Verb, Adj., etc.) - a person, thing, idea, or thought that holds together the larger group. Not the star, not the main character, but a hard hat and lunch pale type who knows its role. The GLUE of the group.

Pencil Sharpener

The Game Changer.

This one may feel outdated, but we all remember these sitting on the teacher’s desk. When the number 2 pencil calls, so does the sharpener. Don’t stick your finger in it.
