STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️

Where We Stand: The Genesis Scottish Open

Two days down and two days to go in Scotland on the PGA Tour! Here’s where we stand!

After 2 weeks of contests with lesser-known golfers on tour, the floodgates have reopened this week for most of golf’s big names to return to the course and put on a show. Here’s where we stand after two days in Scotland!

Ludvig Aberg is the leader at -12. The 24-year-old has a sensational year which has gotten him to the No. 4 ranked golfer on tour. A lead going into the weekend seems to be something we have seen often from the youngster. He plays very well on Thursday and Friday but seems to get caught down the stretch, maybe this is his tournament!

Behind him is Antoine Rozner from France. He has shot 2 bogey-free rounds landing him a score of -11 and with a steady weekend, he could find himself in the mix down the stretch.

Tied for third at -10 Matteo Manassero and Sungjae Im. Matteo is similar to Antoine in the sense that not much is known about him except for the fact that he is playing phenomenal golf right now. Both men are outside the top 100 and most likely will not be after this tournament. Sungjae Im also always seems to eat up top 10 finishes. The 26-year-old from South Korea has made a name for himself these last few months with quality performances at many events.

Those three deserve more than those two paragraphs but the SQUADRON at -9 needs to be discussed as well.

There was a month-long hiatus from World No. 2 Rory McIlroy after his devastating end to the U.S. Open which included two missed putts inside of 5 feet on the final few holes. He took a couple of weeks away from the game and has returned dialed in. He is defending his victory from last year and it would be classic Rory to come back and get a quality win after the defeat we saw a month ago. Hard not to root for him here.

Speaking of hard to not root for…STUMP HERO Sahith Theegala is also tied at -9 and well within striking distance. Sahith has really made a name for himself this season, with multiple top 10 as well as top 5 finishes. He’s been on the verge multiple times this season but hasn’t gotten a win. Maybe he gets one here.

But the way golf usually works is even with only two days left to play you never know. More than likely a guy I didn’t even mention could come out of nowhere. Cough cough Morikawa, Hojgaard, Noren, Del Ray, and Conners.

Ok I think I covered all my bases there. Just to spite me probably someone like MacIntyre, Jordan, Scott, or Detry could come out of nowhere too.

OK NOW I HAVE TO HAVE SAID EVERYONE.

We’re in for a helluva weekend! Buckle up and enjoy!
