Two words for you: Chef Gusteau! You familiar with that name? Before you lock in who you think that is, think for a second and then REVEAL HERE! Anyway we’ve got a great quote from him today. On top of that we’ve got some QB drama, an MMA announcement, and Home Runmageddon in the MLB! Let’s roll!

💰️ Big QB Money in the Early 90s
Before we start here, just keep in mind that Patrick Mahomes signed a 10-year, $450 Million deal in 2023. Now let’s go back to the greats of the 90s.
On this day in 1991, Dan Marino passed Joe Montana as the highest paid NFL player ever. At the time, it was a 5-year, $25 Million extension with the Dolphins that got the job done. Oh how times have changed!

Sorry to annoy you with that title up there, but that’s just the fact of the matter. The New York Yankees tied a franchise record with NINE HRs in a single game last night against the Tampa Bay Rays.
In a 13-3 win, it was BOMBS AWAY for the boys from the Bronx last night down in Florida. Before a week ago, things were looking very bleak for the Yanks, as they were only a game within the Wild Card race. Now they have won 6 out of their last 7 and they are doing behind their bats that are ON FIRE!
They are now the first WC team, one game ahead of both Boston and Seattle.
Just to go back to that opening point in case you thought there were any typos so far, the Yankees hit 9 Home Runs yesterday. It all started with them going back-to-back-to-back in the top of the first inning. It was Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton who did the damage then.
By the end of the game, Belli, Stanton, and Jose Caballero all hit 2 HRs, and then Jazz Chisholm and Ben Rice went yard as well. Who know if this could be this official turnaround, but the boys did something historic last night (the Mets also won 8-1 last night for the rest of our NY faithful)!

🥊 Olympic Gold to the MMA
The Stump Short Story: Maybe you’re familiar with the name Gable Steveson, we’ve mentioned him here and there. He was a wrestler who won back-to-back NCAA Division 1 titles with the University of Minnesota. After that he represented the United States in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, and he came back with the Gold. So what we’re getting at here is that overall this guy isn’t that impressive!
Why it Matters: Kidding! This guy is an absolute freak show, and he’s got his eyes set on his next mountain. He is set to be on the LFA 217 card as the co-main event on September 12th. The 285 pound gold medalist will be a problem for anyone he goes against, and will be a story that is fun to keep an eye on!

🏈 Danny Dimes Season Begins!
The Stump Short Story: A lot of news out of the Indianapolis camp these last 24 hours. Yesterday the team announced that Daniel Jones would be the starting QB for the 2025 season. Anthony Richardson will be the backup. The skill positions around them in Indy are solid. Johnathan Taylor as the back. Pittman, Downs, and Pierce out wide. And then rookie TE Tyler Warren is also a wild card. It will be fun to see if Danny Jones can make some magic happen in Indy.
Why it Matters: Just hours after the decision, A Rich’s agent came out and said that his future with the team was uncertain. Not really sure what that means, I mean he’s a third year QB now with very limited playing experience. Sitting a little bit more behind another veteran QB might not be the worst thing.
