One of the greatest swimming clips in American sports history! Have you seen this one?

On this day in 2008, the USA took home the 4 × 100m Gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games by beating France by 0.08 seconds. It was the team of Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones, and Jason Lezak that pulled off an incredible comeback.

Glue Guy of the Day

⛳️ Justin Rose! Golf’s Ironman!

I’ll tell you what, this past Masters tournament I think will go down as one of the great Masters tournaments of the first 25 years of this century.

I’ll tell you what, this past Masters tournament I think will go down as one of the great Masters tournaments of the first 25 years of this century. Is that an overreaction? Is that crazy talk? I mean I am crazy and I do talk here and there so it very well could be. But Rory McIlroy fighting to get his career grand slam on the grandest stage of them all after 10 years of waiting was absolutely incredible.

I don’t know if we’ll remember this part in 20 years, but what fellow Englishman Justin Rose did in that back-nine on Sunday to push him to a playoff and create some great storybook moments was the stuff of absolute legend. Not only is he an all-around great guy, but he handled a gut-wrenching loss with about as much class as anyone could. He knew how big the moment was for his fellowe countrymen, and he let him soak it all in.

I don’t know much, but I do know that what goes around comes around.

Yesterday was Day 4 of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and after an INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE four birdies out of his last five holes, he was able to force a playoff with American JJ Spaun, who has also come on very strong this year as one of the hottest golfers on Tour. The playoff was a three hole showdown where Rose was able to claim his 12th win on the PGA Tour.

Just a fun thing to write about, because those new to watching the game of golf at this years Masters tournament learned the name Justin Rose, and saw how much of a class act he was!

Everybody looks at the Roy win, but it had to be a lot to have been so close to the biggest title in the sport, and just come that close. His relentlessness is something I envy!

Not only is he GLUE, but his RELENTLESSNESS and simply the action of being a class-act…GLUE!

The BIG Moments

⚾️ The Mariners & Raleigh are HOT!

The Stump Short Story: What’s going on in Seattle right is WILD. The first half of the regular season ended with a Cal Raleigh barrage of Home Runs that put him right at the top of the MLB lead for homers. The Mariners have not only found their groove, but they have lamented themselves as a scary team behind not only their superstar catcher, but a solid all around roster that grits out wins. Yesterday they won their 7th straight contest with a 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Raleigh tacked on his league-leading 45th HR in the contest.

Why it Matters: Every you great players turn into superstars, and that’s exactly what we are seeing in Seattle. For those not fully tapped into the baseball scene, Cal Raleigh is going to be a household name very soon, the same way Judge and Ohtani are, and with the HR pace he is going at, it could be sooner than you think. It will be exciting to keep track of how he does the rest of the season! If only there was a reliable newsletter to make sure and keep you up to date on that…👀

🏀 A’Ja Wilson WIth First 30-20 Game!

The Stump Short Story: On Sunday night, the Las Vegas Aces faced off against the Connecticut Sun in a showdown that was going to be a regular contest. What does that even mean really? A contest is only ever regular until it is not. There is a quote from the Nike “Air” movie…”A shoe is only a shoe until you step in it.” Well A’Ja Wilson stepped in a shoe last night. She posted an absolutely nuclear statline!

30 PTS, 20 REB, 5 AST, 2 STL, on 52% FG (13-25)

It was the first 30-20 game ever in the WNBA. There have been both some great guards and bigs in the sports of women’s basketball, but none ever have been able to do what Wilson accomplished last night. We don’t see “firsts” very often in sports, so soak it in! Here are the highlights from her performance!
