Good Morning, Stumpers!

Anybody remember a few weeks before the NFL season this year when we were hearing reports of Matthew Stafford and his back issues? There were serious thoughts that he might have to sit a while out. Now he’s the favorite for the NFL MVP. Unreal! Happy Monday! We’re talking some Stafford today.

Outside of that, this may be one of the best hustle plays I have ever seen: CLIP

Stump Story

🍷 Fine Wine: Matthew Stafford

What’s considered an athlete’s “prime”? It’s different for different sports and for different positions, but at the Quarterback position, it’s interesting to think about the magic number.

I’ll tell you what, there are a lot of different directions we could go in today when we talk about the NFL. The Eagles blowing a 21-0 lead. The Colts losing a tough one in OT to the Chiefs. Are the Chiefs back? How about Shadeur Sanders winning his first start, and JJ McCarthy losing another start? The Bears are now 8-3, the Seahawks 8-3.

All of that, trying to figure out who is atop the mountain that is the National Football League, and after what we saw last night, how can we say it’s anybody but the LA Rams and 37-year-old QB Matthew Stafford.

I haven’t looked into any MVP odds or anything like that, but a primetime win against a good football team in the same week where Drake Maye threw a pick, and Johnathan Taylor struggled, Matthew Stafford has to be the odds-on favorite now.

It was midway through the second quarter last night when Stafford had already eclipsed 200 yards and 3 TDs. Davante Adams is looking like how he did 8 years ago, and Puka Nacua continues to be one of the game’s elite receivers.

In a week where every single one of the premier teams in the NFC struggled against another team, to see the Rams put the smackdown on the Bucs truly was something.

Not only were they dialed on offense, but their defense was just as impressive. I’m no rocket scientist, but that’s the way you win the big win. That’s the way the Rams could win their second Super Bowl in five years. There are 13 QBs who have ever won 2 Super Bowls…

Stafford would join an elite class.

Before the season started, I was hearing reports on his back, and that I shouldn’t draft Puka in fantasy. There were reports that he’s way too old, and that he might not even play this year. I was seriously thinking that we might start the year seeing Jimmy Garoppolo.

Unreal response to all of that from Stafford.

In a year that truly is one of the more wide-open races in recent memory, the Rams officially announced themselves as the top of the pack last night.

I think we’ll save talking about wide open it really is for another day this week, but there are legitimately 13 different teams that could find themselves in the Super Bowl. Count it up yourself and see what you think!

Matthew Stafford. 37 years young. Absolutely DIALED. The Rams are now 9-2.

Of! The! Day’s!

Putting this one here with Matty Staff in mind. Can’t believe what he’s doing this year. If it’s not my team, couldn’t think of anybody else I’d want to win MVP and win the whole damn thing.
