On This Day
👑 King Felix is Perfect

There’s not many other guys who move the needle for me quite like the king of Seattle Mariners baseball.
On this day in 2012, Mariners all-star pitcher Felix Hernandez became the 23rd player in MLB history to record a perfect game. No hits. No errors. No walks. No hit by pitches. Not a single man reaches first base. Just Felix and the ball. An epic day for the King and an even more epic day for Seattle.
Today’s Trivia
You're probably alllll over the NFL preseason stats, so who's the leader in passing yards after week one? |

Glue Guy of the Day
🧓 NBA Old Heads on Display

The NBA schedule officially released yesterday, and to say that the NBA is leaning into their old legends is an understatement.
With a new season comes another year closer to some of the best in the world at basketball being this much closer to hanging it up. The NBA is very well aware of this, so they’re obviously getting their old dudes onto the big screen early on in the season. To start, the first night of the season will feature KD making his Rockets debut against OKC, and then LeBron and Luka facing off against Steph and Jimmy Butler. Old head central.
Not only that, but Chris Paul’s Clippers reunion will also be hosted on national TV, and the Christmas schedule basically featuring every old head you could imagine.
There’s a fine line between respecting the past and showing off the future, and the NBA is surely trying to toe that line this year. While teams like the LA Clippers uniting some of the best players of the 2010s in Kawhi, James Harden, Chris Paul, and others look to spark one last magical run. LeBron went out last year and got a young superstar for one last run, and Steph is hoping a full year with Jimmy will bring him to the top of the mountain.
While the NBA still tries to figure out who is the next face of the league is, they surely do not have a short list of fading stars who are trying to put together one last run. The NBA knows this, and they’re going to get every last thing they can out of these stars.
Watch them while you can, because this generation is heading to the end of their careers quickly.
The BIG Moments

🔥 Bobby Mac is Red Hot
The Stump Short Story: There’s not many other golfers who I enjoy watching more than a red-hot Bobby MacIntyre. After a pretty mediocre 2-under front nine, Bobby caught absolute fire on the back nine, birdieing the last six holes to finish the first round of the BMW Championship 8-under. That was good enough for a 3-shot lead over Tommy Fleetwood, who stands in solo second at -5. Scottie Scheffler, of course, sits at 4-under, just four back of the leader.
Why it Matters: Not only is the purse at the BMW Championship the second round of the PGA Championship playoff, it’s also a tournament with a $20M purse. Bobby MacIntrye is must watch TV when he is playing his best golf, and that he was yesterday. It’s hard for any golfer to win after taking the lead on day one, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. MacIntyre will have to fend off some of the best in the game over the next three days, as Fleetwood, Scheffler, Hovland, and others wait in the wings.
🥒 The Growth of Pickleball
The Stump Short Story: Too short to be a our feature but too long to be a just a one-liner and a youtube video. Played a months worth of Pickleball last weekend and it’s been stuck in my head since. I’ve known about the sport for a while, and have even played once or twice, but I wasn’t sold on it. Not quite sure what I was waiting for because it’s got serious juice! I did some digging and the US Open Pickleball Championship already happened, and the next one is in mid April of 2026, going to make it a mission to get some sort of Pickleball coverage going forward, whether it’s just a blip here and there or a full fledged interview. If you know anybody let us know!
Why it Matters: In the world of niche sports, Pickleball has to be at the top of the mountain now. Maybe 5 years ago it was still new on the scene, but now the number of people who talk about is wild! Niche sports are why we play the game! Everybody loves the big 4, but there’s something to these leagues that are in the shadows that are just as exciting!
