Man. They’ll be talking about that one for a while…a long while. The Dodgers came back from down 5 in a fashion that we’ve never seen before. The Dodgers had a 5-run fifth, and Gerrit Cole didn’t have a SINGLE EARNED RUN! Unreal! The Dodgers were the better team and are now the kings of the jungle! It’s on to Football, Basketball, and Hockey! Nothing wrong with that!

On This Day…

🎾 We’re talking some Tennis today! On this day in 1994, American tennis phenom Venus Williams made her professional debut at the age of 14! She faced off against former NCAA champion and World No. 58 Shaun Stafford, so as you would assume it was a bloodbath…BUT NOT FOR VENUS! Venus Williams set the tennis world on fire with a 6-3, 6-4 two-set victory over Stafford! Big moment for the 14-year-old!

🏀 Still Unbeaten: Cleveland Cavs Edition

It’s still REALLY early, but the Cavs have taken the term ‘hot start’ to a whole other level…

There’s no doubt that the beginning of the season will be a huge indicator of how the season will go for an NBA team. It’s not always the case, but a hot start can catapult you into the rest of the season. It sparks confidence, good team chemistry, and creates a culture of winning. Only 2 teams remain undefeated as we get through the first couple weeks of the season, but this team in particular has really got my attention.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a really solid team the last few years, with Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland leading the way, the Cavs have always played well in the regular season. This year, the Cavs are 5-0 to start the year, which includes their 134-110 trouncing of the LA Lakers. On the night when Lebron and Bronny return to the city they once called home, it was all about the Cavs.

Donovan Mitchell has always been really solid in his time in Cleveland, but the ups and downs of the players around him has always been their downfall. Early this season, Darius Garland has been really solid, stepping up in big moments and taking over the game when he need to. Evan Mobley, always known for his defensive prowess, has finally started to figure it out on the offensive end. He led all scorers with 25 points last night.

What really has been the difference is the bench, Caris LeVert has been a strong scorer off of the bench for almost all of his career, but the growth and health of Ty Jerome, Isaac Okoro, and others has really benefited this team. Don't forget, this is a team that will get Max Struss back from injury in a few weeks.

The Cavs are red hot, they’ve won their first 5 games by 30, 12, 19, 6, and 24, and have yet to score under 110 points, including three games over 134 points. Sure, will this team probably cool off? Yeah, probably. But they have a killer instinct nobody has seen in Cleveland since the King himself wore his crown there.

Yesterday, In a Nutshell

The LA DODGERS have won the 2024 World Series, 4 games to 2, against the New York Yankees. An absolutely STUNNING finish to a series of ups and downs. The Yankees continued their hot streak from yesterday, jumping out to a 5-0 lead! ALL OF THIS WAS ERASED in the fifth inning in which the Dodgers tied it up, somehow, ZERO of the FIVE runs were on Gerrit Cole. Uncanny errors by the Yankees led to their demise. A wild series ends the way it started, with a Dodgers win! The Dodgers are the king of the hill!

🏈 Coach-to-player in-game on-field communications during Power 4 college football games this season have reportedly been taking place on unencrypted frequencies. In layman’s terms, there has been poor security measures put in place to protect the radio frequencies between coach and player, making the lines very easily hacked. This is the first season that this has been allowed in the NCAA, but some measures need to be put in place to protect the communication from being compromised. More on this in the coming weeks…

In their first game following the removal of their former head coach, Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United responded with a bigggg 5-2 win over Leicester City in the English Carabao Cup. I’m not convinced that the boys in red and yellow have turned the corner quite yet, but two goals each from Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes surely will not hurt.

🏀 Ace Flagg, the twin brother of Duke basketball freshman sensation Cooper Flagg, announced his commitment to play the same sport at the University of Maine. The two are from Maine, and have strong ties to the state. Both were in the 2025 recruiting class until Cooper decided to graduate high school early. Flagg’s mother, Kelly, played her college basketball at Maine where she was a senior captain. Son following in mother’s footsteps!
