Day Before Draft Day, 1-seed Action, Some Complete Games in the MLB, and so much more!

We are officially one day away from Draft Day! The time of the year where we get invested in who are team could possibly be taken just to be shocked when the name is said out loud! But before that, we’ve got some more playoff action! both one-seeds take the stage in the NBA! Is it crazy to say one of them goes down tonight?! I don’t know why there’s just something in the air.

LETS. GET. INTO. IT.

THE DAILY STUMPED🔮

Which QB in this year's draft do you think will have the best career?

ON THIS DAY 🗓️

On this day in 2004…

The San Diego Chargers selected QB Eli Manning with the first pick of the NFL Draft. A few weeks earlier, Manning went public stating that he did not want to play for the Chargers and that they should not draft him.

Manning was only a Charger for 45 minutes, as he was traded to the New York Giants. In return, the Chargers got their franchise QB from NC State, Phillip Rivers, who the Giants had taken with the 4th overall pick the same night.

To this day, this still goes down as one of the craziest and most anticipated draft nights in league history.

STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️

Selfless Bill Self

This story comes from the world of social media! We love it, so we want to share it with you! This is a true story!

A woman who grew up in Kansas, Maggie, left the state to attend Eastern Carolina University in North Carolina. She married a man from North Carolina, Josh, whose whole family happens to also be from North Carolina.

The couple are both tall people, so one would suspect their children will also be tall. At their rehearsal dinner, Maggie’s father, a lifelong Kansas Jayhawk basketball fan, made all the parties involved sign a contract stating that if their child happened to be a basketball star he would commit to Kansas, rather than North Carolina or Duke!

To continue the joke, the father sent the childs “letter of intent” to attend Kansas to the office of the Kansas Athletic Director. Someone in the office got a hold of it and sent it over to the head coach’s desk, and to the family’s surprise, Coach Self wanted in on the joke.

What the letter said from Self back to the family was the be kept a family secret until Coach Self left Kansas or the father passed, per the father’s wishes. Early this 2024, the father passed away. His last night on earth was spent doing the one thing he loved most: watching Kansas basketball. On the night of March 5th, 2024, Kansas beat Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse, one last win for him to enjoy.

The letter from Self to the family reads:

“Dear Josh and Maggie,

Congratulations on your marriage! I hope you enjoy all the adventures you experience together in the future. Maggie, I think your Dad is pretty clever to have you and your future-husband sign contracts to prevent all the family feuds that could happen in about 20 years. He seems like a pretty smart guy, you might need to take his advice. Enjoy the special day!

Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!

Sincerely,

Bill Self”

Sports matter. This story reminds me of the importance of the little things in life, the small gestures, the extra few miles to make someone’s day, it could end up changing a life or bringing joy to someone grieving or in pain. Thank you to Josh and Maggie for sharing this story, so we could share it with you all.

🎙️SONG OF THE DAY

Push Ups - Drake

A whole Metro Boomin album was dedicated to hate on Drake, he responded with this song. Drake won the battle. It was 10 v 1. Is Drake him?

🗣️ Quote of the Day

“You can’t move to the next chapter if you keep rereading the last one.“

Anonymous

A great friend of mine once said this, and man it hit home for the boys. If you keep looking at the past, you’ll never get to experience the future. Once you finish the page, learn from it, move on, and immerse yourself in the new chapter.

Glue Guy of the Day👷🚧

Payton Pritchard

The whole Celtics bench has elevated their games this year, but nobody quite like this cat. A former first-round pick from Oregon, he’s had to wait his turn to be a role player in Boston. Whatever they were teaching him while he was waiting, it’s working. This dude is a championship X-Factor for the C’s.
