The St. Louis Rams’ “greatest show on turf”, featuring Isaac Bruce, Terry Holt, Marshall Faulk, and Kurt Warner, became Super Bowl champions on this day in 2000!
The offense absolutely terrorized defenses for a stretch in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, led by head coach Dick Vermeil.

What to know: When Lille lost its opening Champions League match in September, the soccer world turned its back on the French club. Sure, they have been struggling a little bit in their own league back in France, as they currently sit 5th in the Ligue 1 table. The squad from the north of France defied all odds by concluding the league phase of the UCL with a 6-1 blowout of Feyenoord yesterday.
You can’t say that they’ve had an easy path either, as they’ve defeated Spanish super clubs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, Italian club Bologna, Austrian powerhouse Sturm Graz, and pulled off a draw with Juventus. Their only losses came to Sporting (that first match in September) and Liverpool.
Lille holds the 7th seed in the playoffs and will wait to see who their opponent will be after the knockouts. For now, the underdogs will enjoy their time off, celebrate, and maybe even brag a little. They’re the only French club to receive a bye into the round of 16, as Brest, PSG, and Monaco all must survive the knockout stage to advance and represent France.

⚽️ Man City Survives, Advances in UCL

What to know: Man City headed into yesterday’s game with one thing in mind: win and you advance. A pretty simple equation, but it got a lot more complicated when Club Brugge got out to a 1-0 lead just before half-time. Brugge was all over City, making them look incredibly vulnerable. City fans were able to take a deep breath when Savinho, a half-time substitute, put one into the back of the bin to take a 3-1 City lead.
In overall record, City finished 22nd in the table. This means they will need to play either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the playoff round. The top 8 finishers in the table get a bye into the next round, but the squads who finished 9-24 in the table will go into the knockout playoffs. Only 8 of those teams advance, making for the round of 16.
The top 8 finishers in the table are as follows: Liverpool, Barcelona, Lille, Aston Villa, Atletico, Leverkusen, Arsenal, and Inter Milan.

🏒 We’re Down to 3 Options for Utah’s Nickname

What to know: When the Arizona Coyotes packed up shop and moved to Utah, it was an understanding that the team would be named the “Utah Hockey Club” for their inaugural season. Many suspected that the team’s name would be the “Utah Yetis” moving forward (sick), but the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected the names and logos that Utah had submitted for approval.
Now, Utah has changed paths. The club will now select its new name via a fan vote that will take place in-house at Utah’s next four home games. There are three finalists, and fans will be able to vote on tablets stationed around the Delta Center. Here are the three options:
Utah Hockey Club: Stick with what’s working!
Utah Mammoth: One of the options from the original fan vote, pretty good. I mean, it’s not Yeti, but it’s good
Utah Wasatch: The Yeti workaround! This refers to the Wasatch mountain range in Utah, known for its ski resorts. This will allow the team to use a “mythical snow creature in the form of a Yeti” as its mascot.
