STUMP STORY OF THE DAY✍️ 

The Game Of Their Lives! Team USA!

Today Team USA faces off against Uruguay (9:00 PM ET) in the final game of the Group Stage in the COPA America! Win and you’re in! Lose and you’re out!

If you woke up thinking about what you’re going to do in your 9:00 PM slot tonight I’ve got just the thing for you. (First off I would like to congratulate you on having your entire day planned out until then, that’s very impressive!) What you have to do is turn on your TV and buckle up!

USA. Uruguay. Tonight. 9:00 PM ET.

Must watch? Yes. 

Popcorn? Optional.

The energy brought by you on your couch? NON-NEGOTIABLE!

If you haven’t been tuned into the COPA America tournament so far, that’s okay. Tonight we have the final of 3 group stage games for Team USA. In game 1 we beat a bad Bolivia team 2-0 (which should have been more). In game 2, despite playing the much weaker Panama, we came out on the downside of a 2-1 loss after playing down a man all game.

All that has brought us to today, the standings are as follows:

1. Uruguay - 2-0-0 (6 points)

2. United States - 1-0-1 (3 points)

3. Panama - 1-0-1 (3 points)

4. Bolivia - 0-0-2 (0 points)

So what does this mean? Panama faces off against Bolivia in what most are saying should be a Panama win. With each win being worth 3 points, this puts Panama at 6 points. Despite them beating us head-to-head, because of goal differential, a win for us against Uruguay would give us the edge over Panama and we would advance to the knockout stage (2 teams from each group move on).

Alright now that there’s a baseline of info, JUICE TIME.

The boys in red, white, and blue are fighting for their lives. All around the country they have called these years ‘the golden age’ of soccer. But how golden can it really be if we can’t even make it out of the group stage?

These guys are fighters. We’ve got Captain America Christian Pulisic, who is our best player and one of the best players in Europe. We’ve got youngster Falorin (Flo) Balogun who has scored in both games this tournament. And we’ve got a grit-filled supporting cast of McKinnie, Robinson, Adams, Weah, and Turner in goal.

It’s a good squad that has been moving in the right direction but everything would come crashing down with a loss here. It is a MUST WIN! THERE IS NO TOMORROW!

We don’t live in a world of absolute’s but I’ll say this, if you turn on the TV tonight, even if you know nothing about soccer you can’t help but root for these guys who are giving it everything they’ve got just for another shot to compete. And after 20 minutes of watching you’ll find yourself screaming GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL like you’ve only heard in videos!

The stage is set, and the task is right in front of us.

Like I said. The popcorn is optional, but the juice from all of us on our couch tonight is not.
