In the game of golf, nothing is more exciting than a sudden death playoff at one of the events most popular and sacred tournaments.
On this day in 2017, Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose went into a sudden-death playoff after finishing 72 holes tied at -9. It was the Spaniard, Garcia, who outlasted Rose to win his first major title in his 74th attempt.

Losing Streaks in College Baseball
🥳 2 Baseball Streaks Died Yesterday

Lehman University (42 game losing streak) and Yeshiva University (99 straight loses) faced off in a double header yesterday, and it’s safe to say that one team would go into today with that monkey off of their back. But did both teams manage to pull out wins?
To say that these two schools needed a win would be an absolutely unreal understatement. Combined, these two small division three baseball teams had lost 142 games in a row.
In the first game, Lehman finally ended their loss streak. A happy moment for them, but that pushed Yeshiva over the century mark, now a total number of 100-straight losses. Could Yeshiva finally do the dang thing? They fired out of the gates in the first inning of game two by putting up three runs. All of a sudden, the dream was reality. Yeshiva was winning, they just needed to seal the deal.
That they did. Yeshiva ended their 100-game losing with a 3-2 victory. I know the two didn’t shake hands and kind of just agree to split the doubleheader, but that would’ve been pretty dang cool if they did. Either way, the streaks were finally broken. An absolutely beautiful moment for two schools who were reeling for a win.
I’m not sure if I have ever heard of anything quite as unique in the world of sports. Two teams, two games, two unreal losing streaks. Something had to break, it had to! A poetic day in New Jersey where two teams could finally get a taste of victory.

🤯 Nuggets Fire Coach & GM
What. Just. Happened.
Resident Nuggets fan here, to say that I was shocked, in awe, appalled, flabbergasted, and bamboozled would probbaly be 10% of the adjectives you could use to describe it. Two years removed from winning an NBA Championship, and with THREE GAMES to go before the playoffs, the Denver Nuggets decided to fire their Head Coach Michael Malone, as well as their GM Calvin Booth.
I’ve had a couple hours to digest this, so here’s what I’m thinking. One thing I have learned is that no matter what a headline says, or what an “insider” may report, nobody truly knows what is going on besides the people in the building. Malone has done amazing things for us, but the only possible explanation is that it must have been BAD these last few weeks in the locker room. Even so though, you gotta let him finish out the regular season, as payback for everything he has done for the franchise, everything he has done for the city. It was an insane move, and I still can’t fully wrap my head around it. David Adelman has always been a great assistant coach, we’ll see what happens with him at the helm. Despite the chaos, with Nikola Jokic on the court, the Nuggets can never be counted out. Man, this one stings a little, but let’s make some magic happen!
🏀 Big Day in Women’s Portal
Now that all the big dog NCAA women’s programs have officially wrapped up their seasons, the big dominos in the transfer portal are starting to fall. We had two commitments from yesterday to dive in on:
Olivia Miles (Notre Dame → TCU): Miles shocked the college basketball world when she decided to not enter the WNBA draft, but instead come back to college and transfer out of Notre Dame. Miles was the no. 2 overall prospect in the draft behind UConn’s Paige Bueckers, has one year of eligibility remaining. TCU — who enjoyed the programs deepest run in March in program history — needed a guard after the graduation of their star Hailey Van Lith. Miles will certainly take on the role of the squads most explosive scorer, as head coach Mark Campbell enters year three at the helm.
Ta’Niya Latson (Florida State → South Carolina): Days after their loss to UConn in the National Championship, South Carolina has officially landed one of the most coveted players in the portal. Latson, who led all Division 1 players in scoring last year, announced her commitment to the Gamecocks and will reunite with her high school teammate Raven Johnson. Latson averaged 25.2 points per game last season. SC lacked a consistent scorer this year on the offensive end, but with Latson now in the fold, their scoring will look much different next season.
⚽️ Day One of Champions League Round of 16
The first two matches of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, and it was quite the fun day.
Arsenal def. Real Madrid, 3-0: This was Arsenals finest moment in the history of the Champions League. Declan Rice was the man in the spotlight for the Reds, as he scored on two phenomenal free kicks in the second half. Real Madrid came into this tournament as one of the favorites to win the whole dang thing, but now faces a pretty massive uphill battle for the second leg back in Madrid. Arsenal is bringing some serious strategy and game to this tournament, it’ll take a miracle for Madrid to make this back.
Inter Milan def Bayern Munich, 2-1: Inter scored an 88th minute winner thanks to a Davide Frattesi strike. Thomas Muller put the match all square after a late substitution, but Frattesi responded. The result ended Bayern’s 22-match unbeaten streak at home. The return leg will be next Wednesday, and Bayern will have to show up with energy on the road to keep their Champions League hopes alive. The Champions League final will take place on Bayern’s home soil, so a second leg comeback will send their fans into a frenzy.
